Chemicals in carpet?

The keets love to free roam on the carpet, and forage for seed. There are, however, fire repellent chemicals in the carpet. Is this a concern? I can't keep them from going on the floor (it's a natural instinct). What to do?

Not ideal for sure. Hopefully they're not eating any little bits of synthetic fibers of other stuff they shouldn't be consuming. Maybe you should consider placing a natural fiber rug or cotton rug over the existing one. Although those might be treated with chemicals too.
