Parrots
Two Green Cheek Conures, female and male
How can I make chop taste better, my 2 GCC and 2 Jendays are very picky with their chop. I also add sprouts to their chop

My recipe, last batch I made

1 lb single ingredient pasta
1 cup steel cut oatmeal
3 cans no-salt corn
1 ea red and orange pepper
1 can lentils, rinsed and drained
1 head cauliflower
2 heads broccoli
2 bundles parsley
2 bags matchstick carrots
1 bunch kale greens
1 bag baby spinach
2 bags Brussel sprouts
14 large jalapeno peppers
5 big handfuls of habanero peppers
12 red hot chilies
1 lb green beans (cut into 1" pcs)
1/2 lb snap peas in pods (cut to 1" pcs)
1 bunch collard green leaves (no stems)

that's some shopping list, can I ask why the HOT peppers and do you add the seeds inside the peppers or do you cut them out...

Parrots have few if any taste bud receptors for the chemicals that make the heat. What is blazing hot to us is merely tangy to them. Hot peppers can get a parrot to be interested n bland and otherwise uninteresting foods. I use the whole pepper, seeds and all.

Again, do you chop the seeds of these hot peppers or do you clean them out before you chop them

I did a new chop with 3 of the hot peppers you use, still none of it was touched.

Keep offering it for awhile, I'd mix it in with the seeds, lil bit at first and increase over 2-3 weeks.
