hello again, everyone :)
i have a new concern..
so , i live in a apartment with my boyfriend and his mom. a few months ago, his mom has allowed her boyfriend to move in. he mostly keeps to himself and stays in her room during the day because he is under house arrest, and has to stay home most of the time. however, he is a HEAVY smoker, and it has gotten so bad that we get whiffs of smoke smell from the room…
the bird’s cages are a good distance away from their room ( all the way down the hall , a ways from the cage ), but we still smell it…will this effect the birds?
i really really am stressed about this, and open windows to try to get rid of some of the smell, but i don’t know what else to do.
the birds are happy and healthy, they eat, drink and play, no sign of breathing problems ( yet, thank god )..
should i be worried?

I can see how smoking in an enclosed room can fill up the room quickly and make the whole apartment stink of smoke. That's really unpleasant for all the nonsmokers- not just the birds! The smoking boyfriend should put one of those window fans in his room that can move the smoky room air out the window. It would seem like it's his responsibility not to make things unpleasant for everyone. As long as it's a window that opens up and down (not a casement window) it can fit any size window.

i totally agree, and my boyfriend’s mom ( his girlfriend ) has talked to him, and they got scents and fans to help deter the smell..

Spray air fresheners are worse for birds than the smell of smoke. Make sure none are used near the birds' room.

if we do use it, it would be near his room ( down the hall ). i would not spray it in front of them
