Was curious if anyone has a Conure/Budgie combo?
I feel Kirby, GCC, REALLY wants a companion. He's always flying over to the other birds. Bad idea as the two 'Toos and the Senegal want to eat him. (Obviously this happens during a time we are there to intervene). He did visit the bonded pair of Yoshi and Monty (OWA and BCC) and they didn't seem to care. However, Monty can be snippy with Yoshi and I would worry that if she did that with Kirby, it could be bad. Yoshi is used to it and knows to move, Kirby might not and size difference is enough that it is worrisome.
I was wondering if a young Budgie, still used to flock mates might work.
Of course I would allow for slow intro but would love for them to eventually share Kibys cage.
Bad idea or possibly doable? If possible, does sex matter?
Another GCC isn't in the cards, unfortunately. I see all these great pictures of multiple species hanging out together and get jealous!
Monty and Yoshi came to us bonded so not really sure how that went down.

Personally I’d be cautious about a budgie/conure combo. Budgies are wonderful but, as my now-retired avian vet always used to say, they can be like that pesky little brother who always follows you around and wants to be your bestie, and sometimes it can get them into trouble with a bigger bird if/when their patience runs out. We once had a member on the forum here whose GCC removed several of her budgie’s toes! Maybe think about something a little bigger, like a cockatiel? I once had a GCC/cockatiel combo who, while they were not best friends, they got on well enough. Still no guarantee that any pair of birds will live peacefully together but I think ‘tiels are generally a bit less pushy and that larger size is beneficial too.

Personalities are what make the difference, and you never know who will get along. I have my tiel Baby, Budgie Petie Girl, and Rinneck Linny all in a flight cage. This took a long time for everyone to get along. My Petie Girl (budgie) rules the roost. My senegal Nibbles gets along fine with the other 3 only....when out of the cages. When in the cages she becomes very aggressive. SO....you have a 50% chance of making another work.
