COVID-19 Virus

Re: Wuhan virus

Unfortunately these spring breakers haven't read our thread.......,. Thousands at our beaches.. .

They need to shutdown all non critical stores and all entertainment venues. Only way to get this somewhat under control and slowdown the spread. I knew this was way worst then the flu as have contacts from China show how serious it was and the real deal the media tried to downplayed it, or censor people. I strongly believe it was bio-engineered due to area it started at and they have the level 4 security building in that area? Plus the fact something has changed with the Wuhan variant that has allowed the rate of transmission to increase significantly over SARS?

Hopefully everyone can stay quarantine as much as possible and have enough supplies to last a while as unethical people are capitalizing and illegally price gouging those in need. Please report them and even on eBay and Amazon, so sellers that are unethical get shutdown faster, the more that report them, the faster they get shutdown and banned and less people they can take advantage of and hopefully others won't follow suit. I also wish Uber/lyft and food delivery service would shutdown temporary as they are going to become carriers of the virus and spread it faster. If you don't have to work? Don't, or find friends, or family that will help support you. Even cancel non essential health care, as likely you will get infected and spread to others. Anything non critical sure be shutdown, or limited for now. As only way to flatted curve and get it under control. I wish the best of luck to everyone.

Re: Wuhan virus

I think we all need to be realistic. We need as many people as possible to get the virus hopefully with mild symptoms and recover. That will give them immunity. The more people who are immune the better. Here in the UK they are trying to slowly allow the virus to spread. It really can't be stopped. Children tend to be affected more mildly so here they have left the schools open for now. Older vulnerable people like myself are gradually removing themselves from mixing. I haven't been outside for 5 days, but will shop later when it tends to be quiet. We use sanitisers or carefully wash our hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. So I will carefully sanitise as I come out of the supermarket - the trolley handle!!!! - and get in the car and wash as soon as I get home. Bear in mind that the virus lives up to 72 hours on hard surfaces. I will clean all my shopping as I put it away, disinfect worktops, door handles, and then wash again. We are being told not to touch the face/eyes/nose/mouth unless we have cleaned hands thoroughly first.
The priority here seems to be to drip feed those who might need medical intervention with the emphasis on those who will recover. The rest of us just need to withdraw and let the fitter ones fight it. Some will die we are told. I will not win a battle with this virus so I can only do what I can to protect myself in the hope that this will give them time to get a vaccine together or wipe out the virus by letting it run out of steam.

I might just add that panicking will make it worse. We need clear heads, a methodical approach to keeping clean and maybe a few prayers. Stress will make us all more vulnerable.

Immunity is not the current problem, so have to disagree. The problem is that fact the current system in place is way overloaded and hasn't been anything significant enough to prompt this level of containment and if curve don't flatten out soon will mean way more life loss as a result, way more complex then I care to get into right now. Chinese government as strict as the quarantine was, it was somewhat effective. The problem was they started late and tried to cover it up early on as likely was bio-engineered/modified and released accidentally, or wrong staging area.

I do agree with not panicking and stressing out about it as will make matters worst. I fear more what people will do, or not do, more then the virus itself?

Re: Wuhan virus

Just saw the presidents address (3/19/20) apparently there are some malaria drugs that the FDA is allowing re-purposing as wuhan fighting drugs. You can find it on youtube.

CHLOROQUINE please work!

Re: Wuhan virus

Florida finally shuts down spring break beaches! Yippie!
We have 350, but our number of cases is much much higher in Florida! We have only tested hospital cases , travel cases, abd Heath care exposed with symptom cases. Today is the first day at risk groups with symptom can get tested. And we are ramping up drive through testing. :)
Please stay safe please self isolate as much as possible! Hugs!

Re: Wuhan virus

Remember, there is a huge backlog on testing! Almost a week!! We are about to see a dramatic increase in numbers! This is because of a new and improved process!

Re: Wuhan virus

You are so correct. As the test results flow out over this weekend, the case numbers are likely to go near vertical and that will rattle local and State Government groups.

As the number of testings increase this coming week, the following weekend will likely have those government groups clamoring to keep schools and other gathering locations closed for a few more weeks.

To be honest, I find it very hard to believe that China is in a flat to decreasing curve as of yet. What they are reporting would be likely in a much smaller population especially with the 'surface source' findings recently determined. It is very likely, they are about to see a secondary bounce in their numbers.

Finally, someone has come to their senses about what to do about hoarders. Hope other stores follow suit.

I wish the store in Canada would have done it where a couple blocked others and wiped out the meat dept., then bought over $2,000 in canned items.

Good thing someone will start to do something about greedy people.

"Gregory Rigano is the helping lead the way to a possible, effective treatment for coronavirus: chloroquine. In trials conducted by the French to find something that would prevent the most severe complications of COVID -19, scientists found that this generic drug -- which has been on the market for decades to treat malaria and autoimmune disorders -- has a ONE HUNDRED PRECENT success rate. All 40 patients tested recovered from COVID 19 within six days. Rigano said he and his team are trying to get the attention of President Trump to fast-forward testing, but just minutes later, President Trump DID announce in a press conference that his administration is slashing FDA red tape to try and find an effective medicine as soon as possible."

We may get out of the woods faster than expected....be hopeful!!!!

Re: Wuhan virus

USA
We added over 4,000 cases just today.......

and, it is possible for us to double that number tomorrow... As our testing increases daily, in volume, within 24 to 48 hours the effect of those increased number of tests are released. It is possible to see such increases for the next 6 to 10 days... See Italy as a model...

If you consider the numbers of individuals that came into the US from Wuhan just prior to the shutdown and their transmission rate, huge hot spots would be possible.

Re: Wuhan virus

Yep we added 600 more so now 4635
Florida 420 with only hospitalized and travel cases. Tomorrow we start testing regular sick folk's.......

Hydroxychloroquine with combine antibiotic azithromycin, so far looks promising. China tested with 100 patients as well with good results.

Re: Wuhan virus

I’m pooped. I’m a city employee, so we’re working to shut down most services and facilities. We had our first death in my county today (I’m in a pretty small county). I can’t imagine how tired health care workers everywhere are right now.... those people deserve a long vacation after we get through this thing.

California is now in lock-down shelter in place status. Grocery shopping, medical appointments and other necessities are approved, as are outdoor activities that permit social distancing. We've had rain for days so I plan to go for a nice long run in the morning.

Re: Wuhan virus

Sending huge virtual hugs to all of you. We will get through this. This is temporary. There *is* an end to this, but until the vaccine is developed things are going to be a little rough. But there *is* an end to this.

For their thousands of homeless, I understand the policy is to stay where you are! Those poor folks will be decimated!
