Re: Wuhan virus

One if my freinds daughter who is nurse in Calif has the virus age 28, has mild symptoms at this point.....more prayers for health care workers, I don't have words, they are heros, I wish there were even more words for their bravery
The laundry workers, the janitors, the lab techs, the secretary, food service, technical support, admissions, administrators, nurse, doctor, aids, EMT, orderlies, everyone you are in my thoughts and, thank you

Also the veterinary feild and vet schools are sending their ventilators to be refitting and going to hospitals to help people.
Everyone is stepping up!

Healthcare workers are indeed heroes and heroines, Laura. This cartoon plays off the flag raising history of U.S. Marines at Iwo Jima during WW2.

Re: Wuhan virus

I am so sorry that numbers are apparently rising across USA. Here in the UK they have a plan but there is not a lot of confidence that it is stopping or slowing the spread. We are very worried too. Now that I am in isolation for the foreseeable due to age and health conditions it feels terrible that I am only an extra worry for my family instead of the one who drops everything to help out when needed. In fact, at the moment after 2 weeks in lock down, that is the worst thing. The feeling of uselessness.

Re: Wuhan virus

You are not worthless! No way! You are doing your part like the rest of us a d staying home, staying well and out if the hospital
Hugs

Re: Wuhan virus

So.....I've been sent home from work. Apparently I "may" have been exposed to/by another employee Tuesday night. (was off wed and thurs night) So I'm back home on free paid vacation.

I feel fine, I don't remember touching or being close to anyone. But I'll take it! and I'm going to just stay in and self quarantine just in case I was exposed.

Re: Wuhan virus

Some comedy for you.

Staying home is not being useless! It is doing your part! It is what more people should be doing!

Thank you for connecting two great groups of Heroes and Heroines separated by little more than time! Their individual bravery is heartwarming and courageous.

Re: Wuhan virus

Update, called around my other co workers (for rumors) and I actually didn't have close contact with that guy AND they haven't even confirmed him so I'm probably going to be fine. Free vacation is all hopefully.

I hope you are safe! This is getting to close to out parrot forums flock.

Re: Wuhan virus

I'm home teleworking until I use up all the money on my contract. I normally take my summer retirement around 1 April so this isn't really affecting me at all other than they have already cancelled two of my shooting matches. My county just posted it's first case.

It is costing me money though because my online spending is a bit higher than normal, including an order from Mysafebirdstore today for you know who.

Re: Wuhan virus

Mysafebirdstore is limiting quantities of some foods now, I noticed the other day. Geeze.

Nike eats very little so I buy is small sizes and small quantity. They were sold out of the parrot sized Oven Fresh Bites that I wanted to try. Actually the only thing I do buy in large bags is my freeze Dried chop because it has such a long shelf life.

Re: Wuhan virus

Yeah, I didn't even notice the quantities limit when I placed my order. Alex is the only one in the flock eating Harrison's, so a couple of 3 pound bags lasts about 6 months for him. But afterwards when I was checking my email I saw that she had written a statement about covid 19 and supply issues.

Re: Wuhan virus

Thankfully buy bird food usually in bulk, so have months of supply and have freeze Dried and dehydrated food bulk and have a large dehydrator that I use. Plus birds especially larger birds can eat what we eat as well, so long you don't feed the bad stuff like onions, guacamole and stuff that bad, or poisonous for them.

Re: Wuhan virus

Some light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sure it will be at least several weeks (maybe months) before we can exhale, but at least he's not saying we're all doomed, like most others are. My biggest fear isn't the virus and is people that decide to start riots and looting as was in the service and volunteer with hazard paid during emergency before and seen how bad people get? The massive layoffs is what worrying me as people are going to get desperate as most live check, by check and don't have a backup plan? The positive side is they are suspending paying utility and mortgage bills and tax credits for 90 days and won't have to pay it back right away with only $10 a month no interest to future bills in area. It the people that run out of food and supplies is what I fear? It more important then ever to work together with others and your core group and stick together. Have much respect for those working the front line, Nurse, doctors, all Hospital employees, Police and any other person have to work critical services.

I hoping we will get in under control in under the 6 months, looking at what China seem like it be about 4 months. Only time will tell. Stores around my area are be proactive in stopping hoarding and price gouging, so lines are not as long and some stores been restocking for now. eBay is still crap as still seeing listings for toilet paper at high prices as sellers are circumventing the system as usual. They claim to be suspending and banning sellers taking advantage and actively going after covid 19 hot emergency items. Amazon put a stop to it by prohibiting those items from being sold by 3rd parties, as they claim so bad actors won't take advantage. People are actually now trying to return those items back to the stores. LOL They updated polices and not allowing them to do returns, which serves them right.

Re: Wuhan virus

Something I composed for FB, I think it’s worth putting here!

Some positive news over this situation,
The Wuhan virus, COVID 19 has been circulating the USA since the end of November! There was no testing, the flu test doesn’t catch it! It wasn’t until the first death in Washington that the CDC got involved!
So if any time in December, if you had,

Fever
Cough
Shortness of breath

And you tested negative for the flu, you may already have went through this! Especially with a fever! A simple cold rarely has a fever associated with it!

Re: Wuhan virus

Here's how the virus feels like:
https://www.businessinsider.com/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-symptoms-day-by-day-2020-3?IR=T

According to the World Health Organization-China Joint Mission on COVID-19, as of February 20, 80% of laboratory-confirmed cases were mild to moderate, 14% were severe, and 6% were critical. Just to be clear, a mild case of COVID-19 is not like a mild cold. The symptoms will still be pretty severe. Anything less than needing oxygen puts you in this category. Severe cases do need supplemental oxygen, and critical ones are defined by respiratory or multi-organ failure.

Re: Wuhan virus

So interestingly enough I was at a hotel in January and started sneezing and getting stuffed up but otherwise feeling good. I got home and the sneezing subsided but I was getting a dry throat and stilly stuffy. I went into the doc suspecting that I was getting the flu and was hoping to get that flu shot that you need to take within 48hrs of symptoms only to be told, maybe because I told them about what I perceived as an allergic reaction, that I simply had post nasal drip which was causing the symptoms I had. I went home ad was told to keep up with taking vitamin c, and to use Flonase (generic). After a week the symptoms mostly subsided. I'm still using the Flonase.

I never felt sick but I wonder if I had a case of it.

Re: Wuhan virus

Runny/stuffy nose and sore throat are not symptoms of covid 19
