Does your pionus get along with the rest of your flock?

I recently got myself a Blue-headed pionus, somebody was rehoming him and I made the rash decision to get him. He just finished his one month quarantine so I’m moving him to my room where the rest of my birds are. I have a cockatiel living with two brotogeris jugularis parakeets and then a green cheek in a separate cage. They are mid to small sized.

The first day I put the pi cage in my room, the green cheek and tiel were very curious and were attempting to get near him, while the pionus chased the cockatiel and ignored the green cheek. The pi, personality wise is very shy and hasn’t bitten me hard, I’m working on him to step up atm. On the other hand, my green cheek is mean to everyone and the cockatiel is just very clingy and overall annoying to the newbies. Even if they don’t bond it’d be nice if they could be out at the same time without hurting each other.

Can you tell me your experience on pionus being in the same room as other parrots?

Welcome!
I can't give any advice specific to Pionus and I'm not sure anyone can because each individual bird is different, but you are wise to not them out together without supervision. Even two birds of the same species can decide they hate each other and fight. Your cockatiel is able to get away from your Pionus quickly so I would think he would if the bigger bird didn't want him too close, but cockatiels can be a bit dumb (if you know what I mean) and he may persist at his own peril. The green cheek, likewise, can get away and he doesn't sound interested but that could change so supervision is key.
Best of luck. Your Pionus is gorgeous!

I agree cockatiels can be pretty dumb, my girl gets herself in trouble often but she gets away with it because she’s cute šŸ˜‚. I will continue supervising them, thanks! ā˜ŗļø

The only ones that get along in my flock are my peach-front conure, Charlie, and my cockatiel, Redshift. The crew avoids each other's cages most of the time. I never have Vortex, my white capped pi, out at the same time as everyone else because she's territorial, and I'd rather not have issues. This might change once I get my play cage/chicken coop. :)
