Domnijoe - The Art Studio and Bird Herder's Residence

Yup and if severe excitement eyes can reflect this in certain lighting and positions. Weird to see.

This is going to sound like a really dumb question, but is the white area around the eyes and face bare skin like a macaw or does it have tiny flat feathers?
Not a dumb question at all! On Yvons it's a sparse layer of peach fuzz and SKin. Kinda like a baby's butt, LOL!

Sooooooo.. another update about Yvons here at Domnijoe :D . It's gonna be a long post :)

I've been trying to get him to leave his cage for 4 days now, and it doesn't matter if I leave the cage door open or open the top. He prefers the safety of the cage. I refused to force him out, but he can't stay in there forever! Maybe I should get a small treat bowl and stick almonds in there. He loooooves almonds and will reluctantly take (shelled, roasted) peanuts from me. I hope to clicker train him starting tomorrow. Maybe that'll get his confidence up :) . I plan on getting a cheap tabletop play stand. Which means I have to clean up my art stuff and move the old (pushing 18 years) iMac. Then I have to protect the current iMac's cables.... **headdesks** Whoever said birds are cheap has never owned one, LOL!! But we do it out of love ;)

My neighbors (the couple downstairs) have complained to each other about the strange noises coming from my apartment at 6:30 am... meh. It's Yvons. It doesn't matter about the noise. I fart, they complain. The cats bang on their cat trees, and the neighbors complain. I have to keep my chin up and not succumb to their bantering, which is loud enough for me to hear. I won't worry unless I get a noise complaint from the landlord. I've been here for almost 2 years. It's a pet-friendly building. I was told birds are allowed. Poop on them :D.

The other birds have taken to liking Yvons' noise already. Charlie will screech when the grey goes 'Woooooow', and Redshift whistles. Vortex will squeak. Yvons already mimics Vortex's whistle when he's excited. Yvons opera sings, whistles, says 'Laaa' and 'WOoooow' in a really (and I mean a REALLY Golf-clap way) bored tone, LOL. He makes a comical spaceship/UFO noise that I find hilarious. If he's anything like Charlie, he'll be saying 'WINTER!' (dog) or 'WHAT NOW?'. Probably gonna learn it from Charlie, LMAO! He might even catch me saying 'Winter.. stop eating the cat!'. (Omen (cat) and Winter are best buds and play tag. Winter plays rough, though, which is why I yell at the dog.)

And now for burdee tax!:

Glad to hear Yvonn is settling. Good that he views his cage as safe and his. Let him decide to leave cage. Get him used to your hands. He probably cautious about giving total trust. I bet you're curious what his vocabulary and mimicry is. I saw a YouTube vid of a grey. He'd fly down hallway mimcking a space fighter. Enjoy. It's not uncommon for some greys to develop random red feathers.

Is it unusual for a CAG to have a few red feathers on their upper breast? They're cute.
Some Greys have them. Has something to do with them carrying the red factor gene. In Africa, they're known as 'King Parrots', if my memory serves me right :)

Thank you for the tips! Yeah, I'm itching to see what other noises he makes as the days progress into months. :D I wish he'd sing more. He has a lovely voice, LOL!! And that grey flying down the hall mimicking the space fighter sounds comical as heck. :D
