Just got some dreadful news about the parrot club (The only parrot club) here in Manitoba.- It's officially closed down! It just couldn't stay afloat after COVID, and all funds are being donated to an advocacy group.

I was a member for 15 .. almost 20 years. While not perfect, it was a lot of fun. A lot of the founding members have passed on, and we struggled to get new members and to have meetings, even over Zoom. FB Made running the FB group a pest. Yeah. It was gonna happen. After 40-some years, the PCofMB is no more.

That is sad to hear, it's not the only club to fold
because members have aged out. While social media is great for many things, it just does not have that opportunity to actuallly get together in person with bird(s) Which makes me ask has anyone in this group thought of a possible get together?

Part of the reason we were meeting on Zoom was that there was no place we could meet that allowed our birds. The place we used to go to wouldn't allow them after renovations, the church we went to closed down, and... yeah. Everywhere we went didn't work out. :( The one place we found ended up charging us $80 a month, and for a club as small as ours (30 people), it was expensive. Plus they treated us like crap. I don't know the whole story on that, but they kept putting restrictions on what we could and couldn't do, and after a while, that plus the rent drove us away.
