Eclectus Egg Hatched!!!

Aww thank you! Haha I'm sure Mango will be thrilled ;)

Lol Timothy... be proud! :D And Happy Birthday for last week!

Well we may be taking him out of the nest tomorrow instead of Friday,, because it's supposed to get down to 6 degrees Celsius at night/early am the next few days, in fact is it 6 degrees right now (only 10:40pm) and I really don't want that chick getting too cold since Sen has him on the bare wood. *turns heater on and fluffs up* Incubator/brooder is all done, feeding equipment out and re-sanitized, just need to grab the Formula (I have it in a sealed bag, need to move it to the tin) and put the Incubator/brooder in my room (my room = the baby birdy room).

S/he will be 1 week and 4 days tomorrow.

Congratulations ~ :)

At what age to they start to get the colored pinfeathers?

Usually 5 weeks but I'm using Vetafarm Neocare so my babies tend to get their pretty feathering a bit sooner than usual, so I'm expecting colour to show at 4 weeks. :)

I guess we will have to wait and see ;D

I already told you it's a BOY! Just relax, I just know.:p
But, Mango says he would like to see more girls ...
Of the Ekki type around here.;)

Hahaha. ;)
Hehe of course he would, the little studmuffin!

Well, had a minor argument with my husband about the weather and apparently it's been colder than 6 degrees since (for ease i'll say him) he hatched, though I don't believe it, and I stated to him the risks regarding if it gets too cold because Sen is spending a little more time out of the nestbox now.. but after our *cough* argument, of course he doesn't want baby taken out until Friday. So yep >.>

Very tempted to take him out anyway.. therefor I'd like to hear others thoughts on this?

I want to take him out today because of Sen coming out more frequently and for longer periods of time when it's reaching 6 degrees at night/morning - baby is ont he bare wooden floor of the nestbox - and I really don't want to risk losing him.

But is my husband correct in saying that baby will be perfectly fine until Friday? (Wednesday today)

I don't know. But i would definitely watch the temp in the box. My breeder told me some horror stories of how the Ekkies can loose interst in their babies. And sometimes even mutilate them, but, again i don't know. Just throwing it out there.
I would really watch her.
