Essential Oils

My wife wants to try an essential oil mix for a scalp treatment. They do have an odor, and she does spend time up close with Hahnzel. Are they safe in that form?

I would look carefully at the ingredients. If they don't include anything poisonous to birds or any fumes that could hurt them, I wouldn't worry. The smell may make your birds preen her hair though, so if the ingredients seem unsafe, I would keep the birds away.

Have her do it at night away from the birdies, the residual smell will not harm them. The damage comes from airborne particles affecting their air sacs. At time if application it could be a small chance, after it dissipates it shouldn't be a problem.
