Well, doesn't someone look very happy in these pics! I hope the putting on was just as easy as the taking off. Salty and I have this down to a few seconds of time both on and off, and he now looks forward to going outside into the big wide world! 😁 (y)(y)

She did really well with our make shift halter (used to very small collars and the middle of a dog halter) because it snapped and didn't go over her head. This one she did yell at me putting it on and again taking it off... but once it was on she did really well and again once it was off all was well. The transition of putting something over her head I was chastised but quickly forgiven!

Hopefully soon we'll have it down pat like you and Salty!!

You probably have read about this, but Salty and I practice putting his harness partially on and off every night during training time. Its the second warm up trick we do in his routine, first a few roll overs and then the harness. I dont put his wings in thru the wing loops, we just get his head thru the head loop and drape the wing loops over his body. I think the head loop is the hardest thing for them to feel comfortable with; it's so un-natural for them to do this, so it takes tons of desensitizing to achieve that calmness. Since we do this every night, he's had over a 1,000 times of practice ( we started doing this when he was about a year or so old, and he is 7 now, so maybe closer to 2,000 times!). If you're going to do any sort of regular training with your parrot, harness training is one "trick" that will pay real dividends in quality of life for many years to come.

Thank you for the advice! She wasn't a fan of the moon roof being exposed either! But she loved the windows being a Crack. She normally rides in her carrier but we've been doing car rides a few times with her just out and about. She normally goes in her bird carrier.
