Finishing Weaning A Red Belly. Yeesh!

Haha i saw that you won the POTM and in that picture his head looks this absolute darling color of blue haha ...i didnt realize it was just the lighting. He is very cute though, and congrats. :)

Ugh my breeder is tempting me with Meyer's babies (7 weeks old at the moment)! I'm pretty sure I'm okay with just one but two Pois would be so darn cute :3

Well, "I" am biased for sure :).

I've got two, Julie has two. You probably need two as well :)

Update: Albert still hates fruit (as evidenced by the oranges behind him that I ate after he flung them around in disgust).

He does however, apparently love Thai chilis!

Aww, cute!! He's a baby version of my old man :).

I'm afraid to feed anything hotter than a Poblano pepper, and even that I'm careful with. I had a bit of hot pepper juice or piece of flesh that failed to wash off my hand, and it got on my lip and was extremely painful. Thank goodness it wasn't my eyes  I can't trust myself with hot peppers...

Not sure you'd get along very well with my mom then. She chops up a habenero every morning and scrambles it in her eggs. She puts habenero powder on everything else:52: I think she has no taste buds anymore lol. Her parrots all eat those nasty peppers like they were celery:31: I think I've heard parrots are immune to the spicy part of the pepper.

Wow, your mom must have no pain receptors in her mouth ! I do enjoy spicy foods, and can tolerate a moderate amount of heat, but not THAT spicy.

It's happened more than once where I've accidentally rubbed hot pepper (and not even nearly as hot as habanero) in my face, so needless to say, I am not very confident with cutting with hot peppers. I can't guarantee it will never happen again, so I literally don't trust myself as silly as that sounds :52:.
I don't care if the parrots can't feel the heat, they'll never get anything super hot anyway as long as I'm the one preparing it lol. I do always hear the red jalapeños calling to me at the store as I grab my Poblano and Bell pepper... maybe one day I'll try it ;).

Albert has been getting in the habit of flying up onto a storage shelf in his birdroom when I'm changing out his water and filling up his humidifier before bedtime. He always wants pets when I get back, but always on top. Figured I'd take a short video of it :3

Ignore my dumb WHO'S A GOOD BIRD voice.

So, weird stuff hapennin'.

Albert has been regurgitating occasionally on my wife over the past week, and today he decided the bell on his boing was going to be the object of his affection:

Is it common for only 6 month old Pois to start showing mating behaviour? Seems pretty dang young.

My sennies were doing the regurgitating thing by 4 months, so I'd say it's normal.

Been awhile since an update. Albert has been talking for about month now (so far, "Hi Albert!" "Peekaboo!" and "YEAH!"), so I wanted to watch him when he's alone. No new words but still quite cute.

I loved your updates on Albert! If you don't mind me asking which breeder did you get him from?

How adorable!! Albert makes some cute noises just like old man Robin :). Albert is such a sweet little baby, I just want to kiss him!

Pretty good that he's saying a few things already. I've heard Pois don't start talking until they're a bit older. With Robin, I honestly don't remember, but my Griffin is over 14 months old and just started saying a few things but on rare occasion. Might be weeks til I hear it again. The first few times I heard him talk, he was under his cage cover still... He didn't think anyone was listening as he practiced LOL :D. I think Red Bellied might be better talkers anyway. I know Robin is way more vocal.. Griffin is the quietest parrot I've ever seen.
