Anyone use a good floor lamp for birds. I know they need uva and uvb rays, the avian floor lamps that come up are by that zoo brand and all the reviews are telling me that they are not good lamps!!! I don't want to buy somthing that won't work for my bird but I don't want to get suckered just because it says avain lamp. Can I just get any floor lamp and put a uva/uvb bulb in? Hahah I know this sounds silly but I just want to be sure before I make moves! Any brands you trust?!

We use the featherbrite brand bulb, but put it in a decorative hanging fixture.

While our amazon does seem to enjoy his light, artificial "UV bulbs" are not a replacement for natural sunlight at all. Birds should be going outside regularly during the summer (either in a cage or on a harness) to get natural sunlight.

As Kiwibird said, any floor lamp or hanging lamp fixture is fine. It's the bulb that matters. :)

The Avian Sun Zoomed lamp is a rebranded reptile bulb. Not recommended and if you don't follow directions, can cause burns to birds eyes/skin.

Would recommend Featherbrite if you want avian specific bulb.
