Gay birds?

So here I am watching tv with my two boys hand around one for cuddles, an the other climbs up onto my hand and starts.... thrusting I guess on my hand and bird no 1
I've certainly had a little laugh, he's only 7mnths old so yeah, is this common and only spoken about behind closed doors or what

I don't know about conures specifically, but homosexual behavior has been observed in many bird species including Galah Cockatoo, White Fronted Amazon, and Peach Faced Lovebird ("Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity" by Bruce Bagemihl (1999). So it is certainly possible!

Birds can't actually tell the difference between male/females (in regards to their own gender) they tend to go towards one gender more because of characteristics (face shape etc). So they don't realise they're actually being 'gay'!

Merlin is DNAd male and loves to try and get it on with my boyfriend. Mainly his hand, Andrew just puts his down and ignores him for a few minutes until he 'snaps out of it'.

We just about our birdy being gay, but hey, he wants what he wants!

LOL Mayden, my friends M2 is DNA sexed male and he HATES women! Like, except for him owner/Mama, women freak this bird out. I walk in the room and her U2 is all "Hi hi hi!! Love me love me love me love me love me!!!" but I look over at the M2 and he's crouched in his cage with the "get OUT" look. My husband came over and met him for the first time and you would have thought he and that bird were the best of buddies. He'd do anything to get to men. Women on the other hand... are the enemy. My friend jokes that he's as gay as the day is long.
