1/2" bar spacing, 30" x 30" is VERY roomy... and square... be sure your doorway is >30.01" if you want to move it to another room without taking it all apart...

Well, I think the parrots dig it more... it's a huge honker of a cage and changing the bedding is almost cumbersome due to the size combined with the thin metal used, but where it counts most it excels and anything under $250 makes it a fair value. IMHO, of course...

The skirt does not have to be put on. The cage will function perfect without it but you will get more of a mess on the floor. The skirt is on the outside of the cage and there to catch any mess that may fly out of the cage and direct it into the littler pan.
