I want to donate some money to worthy parrot rescues in the US. I'm sure money is a huge issue with rescues and some are better funded than others and want to put the money where it's needed the most.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Maybe your local avian vet would have some suggestions of rescues that they trust?

I also want to look nationally. Here in Maine our best rescue closed a few months ago due to lack of funding in addition to other factors. Parrots are not popular pets here. I know other areas of the country have a lot more homeless parrots and need support. If anyone has good rescues in their area that need support I'll look into donating.

There are some centres as recommended by our membership that are listed here, @DonnaBudgie, scroll down to page 3 for agencies in the US.

Sadly Seymour's is no longer operating, but if you or any other members have any other refuges that you trust, either in the US or elsewhere, please nominate them here so the Mod team can add them to the list :)

https://www.maars.org/ this place is well known in the Midwest. I’ve donated a cage here. They have a ton of cockatoos where I donated a cage. I am not sure if they adopt out anymore, or if they went towards being a sanctuary.

https://www.iowaparrotrescue.org/ I am familiar with this place. They do have all of their parrots examined by a vet. Their parrots are all on a diet like Harrison’s pellets, chop, and they definitely don’t do the all seed/nut diet.

The place I volunteered at is no longer accepting parrots. She is getting up there in age, and from my understanding she’s trying to get out of the parrot rescue business. I don’t think she has a website anymore for this purpose but I do have her phone number.

Thank you for your recommendations, @kme3388, I'll see if I can get those added to the list :)
