In one of my posts I mentioned how my natural gas bill was up close to a hundred dollars more in one month.
I have 2 theories, both politics so I won’t go there.
But I have been using suplamental electric heating and thought I would make some observations.
I lowered my thermostat from 69/70 F down to 66/67.
Before adding electric heating to the mix it was indeed colder.
Putting the oil filled heater in front of the air intake of natural gas heater has made a difference in temperature in the house.
Without changing the thermostat from 66/67 F the house is maintaining about 70 F

I don’t know if this will be cost effective, ie the extra cost of electricity may negate savings on natural gas.
Time will tell but at least less money will go to those greedy bastich gas company .

In addition to what changes I described I also shut off the heating vent in my bedroom.
Burrr. But I got a secret weapon.
An original Hudson Bay blanket.
My wife got for me as a present on eBay after telling her my fond memories of sleeping underneath one as a kid.
Until I get both electric and gas bill I won’t know if any money was saved but will see.
