Amazons are great! Sure, they have a nasty reputation, but as mentioned above, most of the time that is justified.
Mopar is my second BFA, as my first one passes away during a surgical procedure. Both birds have been wonderful. Both could be handled by anyone. Kalani, who I had for 9 years, never showed any aggression towards anyone. Mopar will be 3 this year, and I will be watching out for some hormonal changes, but so far he's been the same 'ol Mopar.
Mopar also knows a bunch of phrases, and seems to be learning the "meanings" of them. He will say "outside" when he wants to go look outside. "upside down birdie" when he is hanging from his toys. He also likes to make up his own songs. I really enjoy them.. they are so animated.
The trick is learning to "read" their behavior, and respect them.
As for pricing, stateside, I saw they average 800-1500 for baby 'zons.
