Hey again, can anyone help me figure out exactly how old my Alexandrine is? According to the breeder he's 8 weeks but this is mainland china we're talking about so buyer beware certainly applies.

Thanks again to the parrot community for all your help!

Also, They told us 4 more weeks baby foods for hand feeding. THEN move to real foods ?

Any advice there ???

How about activity at the age of 8 and 9 weeks ???

Should I keep him somewhat active now ?

Cages, when should he start sleeping in a cage ?

I appreciate any help. My Fiance will baby sit when I am not here I leave town 2 days every week and well... I can usually trouble shoot but...

I am so grateful he found this web forum !!! And such wonderful help !!!

Thank you ALL !!!

He does look quite young! I'd say 8 weeks it a pretty good estimate. I'm no expert by any means at all, some of the more experienced members will know better but Of the babies I've seen, that looks and sounds about right :)

I'm not very familiar with Alexandrines. Seen them, held them, etc. That's about it....But have you done the handfeeding yet so far? A baby will beg to be fed! Have you asked the owners to show you how it is done and ask them to demonstrate? IF you feed it improperly, you can easily kill the baby!

Start offering real food now... seeds, pellets, grated fruit and vegetables... The breeder should have had them available to the bird for the last few weeks...

It's very difficult to wean a bird, who hasn't had a chance early on to experiment with food.

Yes they said he was 60 days old but we are in China and well, not everyone here is honorable when selling ;-)

We got him the same food they were using, a baby like mash/cereal flaky mix and I am adding in the Good Baby Bird Mix as well and he is now taking it. ;-)

So 8 weeks is good to start introducing foods. Fruits and such ok after 8 weeks as well as I got some pellets. ;-)
