I keep running into huge flocks of parrots when I visit Pasadena California.
Are these really escaped parrots from captivity or do they migrate naturally in this area? I don't think they are indigenous to Pasadena, California. Just wondering. Its always quite a site, and I am always transfixed by large flocks of parrrots, the noise is incredible! I wonder if they are eating horrible junk food that humans throw out behind restaurants and stuff, or if they are just eating in the trees, where I always seem to see them eating. I wonder if these huge flocks are healthy, and if they have a doctor parrot in the flock, that nurtures the struggling ones. None of them ever seem to be struggling, they seem to find lots of trees to eat and play around in...and they seem pretty energetic and happy, but who knows. there are lots of amazing trees in pasadena so maybe its a perfect habitat for a huge flock of parrots.

I use to live in South Pasadena and they are a sight to see. They are a ferral flock that has lived in the area for decades. Your right they are a healthy happy bunch.

I live in orange county, and near belmont shores there was a pet store that caught fire, some birds were able to escape, and over time they nested in the palm trees and created a huge flock! Also, there are many wild quakers in new york because of escaped birds, unwanted birds, you name it! I've even seen a flock of amazons fly over my house!

watch the wild parrots of telegraph hill :) we have wild parrots down south in the uk, lovely sight to see i am sure.

I was just going to recommend The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.

Incredible documentary .... and I don't think I've ever before even liked a documentary.

Bakersfield, CA has a large flock of IRN. They have been around since the 1950's according to many locals.

Florida has loads of wild quaker populations as well and when I owned my house down in clearwater florida I frequently heard them and saw them flying over my house . I loved it .It was awesome . I cannot imagine seeing a wild IRN population how beautiful .

I live in Long Island, NY. I live by the bay and we have a huge flock of wild quakers. There a literally about 20 of them in my trees all day everyday screeching. When I was looking into getting Mango my Alex. My boyfriend was all "cant we just catch one from outside"...LOL!
