Man, you know what - you probably in some way, however small, helped two other lost pets find their way back home. That's a good deed, Mark, a really good deed. I'm on the edge of my seat reading and constantly refreshing this thread....I hope everything turns out for the best!!
 
Would there be any benefit to doing a second flyer targeting that area as a direct appeal: We believe someone in the area may have taken Maggie in and we desperately want that person to get in touch. Reiterate what the bird means to you, push emotional buttons (we believe you have the bird's best interests at heart, that you've saved her from probable death left to the elements but that you know in your heart Maggie's place is at home with her flock). Mention the reward is waiting for them as well. It might be enough to coax them out, particularly if they realise the net is closing anyway and it occurs to them there's a chance they'll be caught and in trouble if they don't do the right thing.

I must admit, in your shoes I'd be wishing all sorts of horrific accidents to befall them if they've taken her and intend to keep her knowing full well the lengths you're going to to get her back, but still, whatever it takes to get her home safe.

I've not commented before on this thread, largely through not having anything useful to add, but I've been following it and thinking of you - hopefully it's getting very close to a positive ending now.

The first guy called me off Craig's list. He was in Helotes.

The second one was more than an hour away, and emailed me with a picture of a military macaw she found in her tree... I identified the species for her, and referred her to Parrot 911.

I plan to distribute more flyers this weekend. It's supposed to rain through Friday. Wouldn't do much good with all this rain.

I plan on going door to door in that neighborhood. And I've got the skate rats, and my daughter's friends looking as well.

If Maggie's there, we'll find her. That park is only about a mile from my house.

If not, I'm going back up Adams Hill, with new posters emphasizing the reward, and also the entire subdivision area by the park where I lost her.

I am convinced someone has her. And a few people must know who does. I just need that person to call me.

No calls today. I'm fighting that knot in my stomach again... but I'm also staying pretty positive.

If you going to continue to free fly your flock,Mark is there a way of microchipping that works with a gps for a just in case issue?

With Sweepea, I'd guess you'd hear the CRUNCH CRACK sound before you even got the harness securely fastened... That's just the way she rolls.

(With my zons, or my CAG?! The crunch crack sound wouldn't be the GPS gadget. It would be the fingers trying to put the harness on them... I DON'T THINK SO! HOMEY DON'T PLAY DAT! - Anyone remember In Living Color?!)

I've never actually tried to harness Maggie. Last bird in the world I thought would ever fly off on me.

This bird used to go to the drop zone with me. Airplanes taking off and landing. Idiot skydivers swooping in around her. Just sat calmly on her playstand, and played with everyone... SHE DIDN'T STARTLE EASILY, OR HARDLY EVER... And she'd been around ladders before... That's why, of all things, to lose her to a freakin' ladder?!

I promised Sarah I would not do anymore free flying.

I'm completely paranoid of letting them outside at the moment, even though Sally calmly waited for me in a tree for two hours while I looked for Maggie...

And she's kinda going stir crazy at the moment. BUT I CAN'T GO LOOK FOR ANOTHER ONE!!!

Tree time in the front yard from now on. Going out and about, but I'm going to start clipping them again.

I HATE TO DO IT, AND I'VE GONE BACK AND FORTH ON THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS, BUT I SIMPLY CANNOT GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN!!!

AND IF I DON'T GET MAGGIE BACK, I'LL HAVE A VERY HARD TIME EVER FORGIVING MYSELF FOR HER LOSS... OR LIVING WITHOUT HER.

I loved to see her fly. Until I saw her fly off... and if she doesn't come back?! That's going to kill me...
 
We all do our best for them. Flying free, feeling the sun and the wind is a great gift to give to our friends. I'm sure Maggie doesn't blame you.
 
I don't think anyone blames you. And if the trade off is never losing your birds again and having them slightly stir crazy until they get used to it.. I think it's worth it. 100%
 
I keep hoping that the next time I return to read the forum posts that you will have started a new topic about Maggie having returned home. :green1:

Would they mess with it as much if it looked/felt like a leg band? I'm guessing they knaw on those.

I've been trying to get Loki to warm up to his harness...but not having a lot of luck. I had let his flight feathers grow out hoping that we could wear the harness and try some flying....but honestly as soon as I got back from vacation (where I was when Maggie flew off), I went and got Loki clipped.

I figured I can still work on the harness and if we ever get comfortable with it then I can let his flight feathers grow on out.

I don't think I could go thru what you are going thru without losing my friggen mind.

I ordered 200 more flyers tonight emphasizing the reward money. I'm going back to the duck pond area. I'll put them up there, and all over Adams Hill...
The bird at Heritabe is most likely Nacho.

I wait. I try to be patient. But I'm far from patient. I try to be positive. But I'm scared.

Maggie is precious, and priceless to me. She's irreplaceable.

And she's gone.
