so i bought my Indian ringneck about 5 days ago, in the shop the owner told me that he was very friendly and doesn't bite yet he failed to show that, i bought the little guy and i trained to step up the first day and all was good, but then the second day is when my trouble started, he would want to go and sit at the window and i would pick him up and take him there and back, but when i want him to simply step up he wouldn't anymore he eats from my hand but when i try to pet him he would bite, and when i move close to him he would move away, plus i saw him shiver a few times, i really like the guy and i dont want to give him back so please, if have any ideas on how to train this guy or fix these issues tell me i'm begging
:confused::confused::confused:

Your little guy is still trying to get use to you and his new home. Give it time, don't rush things. Offer him treats when he steps up nice, talk to him...go at his pace not yours. This is advice I was given when I first brought my severe macaw home. theres also a lot of great info on this forum to read...be patient.

Hello! Welcome to the forums!

Patience is always a virtue. Transitions aren't easy for all parrots, some need time to adapt to their brand new homes. Try to earn your IRN's trust. When a birds feel threatened they will usually let you know with their beaks. Shivering is also a sign the bird is uncomfortable or intimidated. Try to let your IRN set the pace.

No reason to give up after five short days, instead, why not continue to learn?

Don't forget you are a giant predator to the bird you want to be your new friend.
Don't push things. Be slow, quiet, patient and gentle. Encourage him to trust you.

How old is he? How do you know he is male?
You're certainly not at a dead end!
