I can’t believe I’m writing this, but we lost our handsome little green budgie Val on Sunday night. He had a terrible accident on Saturday morning after I let him, Lovejoy and Peachie out of their cages. Something must've spooked all three of them and they flew laps of the living room in a mad panic just a few moments after I stepped out into the kitchen. I rushed back in and saw Lovejoy and Peachie still flying laps but could not see Val, I think he may have crashed under the dining table onto our hard wooden floor. A few moments later he shot out and flew more laps, finally crashing in a...

Is give peas (and corn) a chance!!

She's chuckin' quite a few of them on the floor, but at least it's cheaper than when she does it with blueberries!!!

Don’t you just become sad when you see perfectly good fruits & veggies being tossed on the floor? I get the leftover fruits and veggies that are a few days old that my parrots will no longer eat

Don’t you just become sad when you see perfectly good fruits & veggies being tossed on the floor? I get the leftover fruits and veggies that are a few days old that my parrots will no longer eat

I *had* been serving corn on the cob, which is MUCH harder to just chuck onto the floor. I asked hubby to get some frozen peas from the supermarket yesterday, and he went for the sort with the corn mixed with it, you know, for a bit of variety. And THIS is the result!! Still cheaper than chucking blueberries on the floor though ...

I've tried lecturing my budgies about wasting food and all the starving birds in India but they don't seem to care. Mine love corn on the cob but cutting up a cob is dangerous!
To feel better about all the wasted bird food and floor vegetables, I sweep it up and toss it outside for the outdoor birds. I empty my vacuum canister outside too for the wild ones and maybe they can feather their nests with budgie feathers.

My budgies like to fly off with corn kernels in their beaks, chew on them a bit, fly more, and drop them somewhere, anywhere! Why do they have to be such messy eaters! Because they're birds.

They just want to share the wealth!
It is a bird thing!

Apologies for the picture quality, the light's not the best cos we have grey wintry conditions here today. Plenty hot between Peachie and Lovejoy out in the bird room, though, she sure is warm for that little red-headed rooster's form!!! And quite frankly who can blame her??

It's not all "happy families" down here you know. The 'tiels like each other, Lovejoy and Peachie LVE each other, but other than that the two tribes generally don't like each other all that much. Seems you can't have everything!
