is Lilo a boy???

I have two males right now and neither of them hump (Solo regurgitates) are they abnormal or something?

My male sun conure also does not hump. He pushes his cloaca against my hand and just keeps pushing until I move my hand away. No hump! I thought because of this he was surely female but the dna test concluded he was male. Sometimes I wonder though. What if the lab was being shady and didn't really run the test but just took my money? LOL

There can be errors. Sadly one of our white wings (Kiwi) died suddenly in November, and Pickles, his cage mate and sibling became very ill. She was at the vet for 8 days and has since recovered, but the vet had us bring Kiwi's remains in to do a sort of autopsy to try to figure out what the cause of the illness was. Both white wings had been DNA sexed female, but in her examination the vet discovered Kiwi was actually male. She called the DNA sexing company and they told her there was a small margin of error and Kiwi happened to fall into that margin.

The sad thing is, if the exam was faulty, you may never know until years later when the bird lays an egg (or worse gets an egg binding). By then, how do you even tell them they screwed up? :(

Our vet was actually quite upset and called the company right away. We never have them nesting type places because thinking they were both female we didn't want to encourage egg laying, and now I'm extra glad we did not. They were siblings and I'd hate to have had them breed (not to mention I'd have no clue what to do with a clutch of baby white wings) o.O

That was nice of your doctor to do. How long has it been since the exam and the revelation?

It happened in November. Sadly Kiwi had already passed when the vet examined him so it doesn't really matter now, but IDK, it was nice to call him a "he" and know we were correct. In a weird way it felt like it honored his memory more.

Mine used to do the same thing, and I did the same thing as you. In all honesty, I think he picked up the actual humping from my 8 yr old pervert budgie, Gadget. He sees him doing it on various objects and may have copied it. He looks up to them in a way, they're the only other birds he's met and he learns alot from them, so it wouldn't surprise me if he learned that as well. My other budgie, Diego, does not hump. But he is male. So not all males hump. Go figure I got 2 out of 3

Lilo puts her vent on my hand and rubs in on my hand so I move away.... I am now very uncertain.
