Hi Guys
I hope you are all well!

Ny cockatiel is showing some signs that i am not sure what it means.

I see something white on his feathers and crown, he is plucking, tail doesn’t look quite good and he makes a lot of mess (white things on my clothes as shown in photo)

Other than that, he is eating, drinking and looks ok.

Any ideas ?

Hi Amrsalah! I'm not sure that your 'tiel is plucking, I think you would see a LOT more dropped feathers if he was. The white bits you're seeing on his crest and cheek are remnants of sheaths from newly grown feathers, and they will fall off by themselves or you can gently remove them for him too, if he will let you. Cockatiels always naturally produce a LOT of dust and bits and feather dander too, and that will end up on your clothes if he's preening on or near you - my pair give off great big clouds of the stuff every day! If you notice a change in eating habits, poop or general demeanour then it would be of concern, but really your boy looks pretty good to me :)

The tail is a bit ragged which makes sense if he’s going into a moult. Either some poop or a bit of a bleached out end on that long tail feather. I see feather sheathes or pin feathers on the head and neck. The little fluffies on the carpet are just contour feathers.

I agree; I think your birdie looks normal. You are observing the “stages in the life of a feather”.
