3 little busy Budgies
So not sure who remembers but my jazz has feather growth issues on one of her wings. Her primaries barely grow. When they do, they look terrible. I was finally happy to see two to three coming in but she's gone and lost two of them. They look extremely abnormal. Color is darker than they should be. Thought I'd share some pics, see what you guys think.

Here are the two she lost yesterday. They came from the messed up wing. Look at how they formed and look at the bigger ones root. It is so strangely formed!

Tail feathers don't look good either.

I wish I had an answer.

How is his cage size, big enough?

Yes his tail feathers are all broke but a middle one is growing all weird and ragged just like her bad wing. Its not like they are fine till he messes it up, they grow like that. His cage isn't huge, but its not small either. He tucks himself on top of a toy at night at the very top on one side of the cage. I believe that's how he keeps breaking his tail feathers. He loves that sleeping spot though. I'm gonna put him in our huge cage with my nanday here soon. Maybe his tail feathers will survive then.

That is weird. His other wing looks fine in the pic, how is it in person? What's the bar spacing? If he's sleeping in a way that stresses that wing and his tail I'd say change it up so he can't. I know he'll be upset at first but he'll feel better in the long run I hope.

I would be having blood work done to see if there are any deficiencies.

Kind of looks like he has been knocking them around. Does Jazz have night frights? BB's house isn't huge either, but he does have plenty of room to wave his arms madly.
Maybe a check with his CAV is in order. Can you put your conure in Jazz house and have Jazz in the conures? Don't think i'd want to house them together, but then again, you know your fids better than I do!

Yes his other wing is normal. It's definitely how they grow and not his cage, I'm not sure the spacing if I remember to get it later I will. I keep forgetting. I wouldn't normally put jazz in with another bird but cheddar follows jazz around cause he's the only bird that doesn't pick on him. They are really great together. Jazz doesn't necessarily like it when he tries to get close but in jazz's defense cheddar does get in his bubble pretty often but jazz doesn't lash out. just hisses at him sometimes. The cage I plan to put them in is huge so they will have plenty of space if jazz needs to get away. He can put his wings out in his current cage and flap and he does. I've talked to his vet and they only said to give it time, I might have to take him down to the university in ft. Collins, co to get any real answers. It's been about 8 months since I first noticed the problem. I want to say when I got him he had normal feathers on both wings. I just don't know what it is, he picks at them and they bleed whenever he breaks one off. It's sad cause he acts like the wing is sore especially when he gets spooked and tries to fly. Their cages are too far from my bedroom to hear any night frights but I have never seen him get spooked in his cage so I'm confident he doesn't get night frights. I come home late at night and I can walk through their area and make noise and he doesn't seem to mind. Maybe he did injure it at some point and I never noticed. Even if the vet sees a problem there's nothing they can do so maybe what's the point. It's not like they can fix the follicles that are causing them to grow so oddly.
