Juliette is home! (Lineolated Parakeet)

happy everything is okay after your scare. Sometimes I think they take years off our lives with scaring us but hope they add years from all the joy they bring

Here I am.webp

Somebody green had a feather stuck in her nose for a week, so we went to the vet and that darn feather was not in her nose. I think she just wanted to say hello to the vet and get a nose wash. She also made her first trip to the grocery store. I wouldn't normally combine trips, risking her contact call in a Kroger, but the store was right there and gas is so expensive. She was so good; she didn't make a peep.

Well, it happened. Since moving six months ago to a house with stairs, Juliette has been living upstairs, with a downstairs cage for downstairs supervised social time. She always rides up and down on me. She's figured out the route. I left her for two seconds to run upstairs to the bathroom and she flew up the stairs and found me.

Yep I once had a purple-crowned lorikeet who would hop up the stairs one-by-one while his flight feathers grew back, and then he'd fly up the stairs once they had. Nowhere is safe!!

Painters showed up this morning. No idea when they were going to come so no way to schedule boarding. Poor Juliette got stuffed in her carrier and relocated to a nearby house. Missing my sweet girl but at least she's safe. House stinks like paint and the neighbors decided today was a good day to burn who knows what.
Going to take her dinner soon. Hopefully I will be able to let her out to have a wing stretch. I am grateful she had a place to go.

The good news is I took the opportunity to deep clean her cage with the hose. That girl sure knows how to aim for the cracks and crannies. My 2 year old nephew watched the whole procedure. "washing the poopsies." "yucky poopsies" "almost done" "oh look more poopsies"
The sad part is it's so empty over there in the corner. No 3 AM kissies for me.
I did get to take her dinner and have a little snuggle.

Awwwwwwww I'm glad you managed to get those all-important snuggles, but I imagine Juliette will demand that you make amends for sticking her in that carrier all this time!

Oh I took her downstairs cage to the other house so she's sleeping in that. But I did grab her very rudely and stuff her in her carrier because there wasn't time for her carrier avoidance shenanigans.
