Kidney Disease!

Yep, you read right. Our little angel has kidney disease. Nothing we can do about it, however it isn't as bad as it sounds. The vet said her disease is in a very stable and early stage. She is still very happy, active, and loud! The vet says that this disease won't affect her quality of life, but should be closely monitored. This is saddening as there isn't much I can do, but at least it isn't as bad as it could have been!

Yeah. We are SO glad she isn't in critical condition or even in any threat at the moment! But things can change, and we have procedures ready to be done if things get too out of hand

The vet will prolly put him on a low protein diet, since proteins are broken down by the kidneys.

We already started on a ""kidney diet"

Thanks everyone! I'm sort of grateful that this isn't a critical condition for her, but still not happy to know she has a disease that I can't really treat with conventional means (treatment is too stressful and risky)

At least she has a loving person who's willing to do whatever needs to be done, special diet, etc., to keep her as healthy as possible for as long as possible!

Aw, sorry to hear about that Wings. What types of things are you doing to help her? I don't know much about Kidney disease in birds, so would be nice to hear about how you go about preventing/treating so early on
