Lost Kizzy out the Door!

ditto the radio, lots of people listen to local stations (heck I still listen to my old college radio in my car)

giving up and feeling sorry for yourself aint gonna get Kizzy found, so time to get a wiggle on and get to looking in full force!

The problem is I've gotta do it. I've feel like a black hole.

Ladyhawk, how did Kizzy escape? Totally understandable if you aren’t ready to share yet.

It was the perfect storm of my chronic illnesses flaring up, my mother being exhausted and my feeling pressured to do something without following safety protocols. Also, it was night. Kizzy's supposed to go to bed at 9:30, but I let her stay up so she could visit with my mother.

The main reason Kizzy flew through the door is she had just heard my mother arrive and leave groceries on my doorstep. I get sick. I need help. Obviously, my mother gets tired. She asked me to put the groceries away. I told her it wasn't safe, but she was already going back down the stairs and I felt an enormous amount of pressure to open the front door. I feel guilty for needing help.

Kizzy was ecstatic because she had heard my mother. Had my mother not gone down the stairs, I'm sure Kizzy would have flown to her and we would have learned a valuable lesson. As it is, she flew out the door, panicked when she couldn't find my mother and ascended. I panicked and screamed at her to come back. In retrospect, perhaps I shouldn't have panicked. It probably caused her to panic even more. She called to me and turned around, but once she was over the top of the roof, she couldn't see me anymore. I couldn't hear her. It's possible she couldn't hear me, considering my door opens into a corridor.

I never saw or heard from her after that.

BTW, my chronic illnesses have been nearly unmanageable since Kizzy disappeared. She was the reason I bothered to get up in the mornings despite the pain. My stamina is gone.

OK, I placed an expensive ad at http://www.mymotherlode.com and wrote to the local radio stations, KVML and KKBN. In the process, I learned they share the same address, so I addressed one letter to both of them. Obviously, the two stations have merged. I hand-wrote the letter and typed what I want said on air. We have rural "hick" radio stations here because this is a rural "hick" area.

Here is what I wrote for the message. They can edit it if they want. I double-spaced it as suggested.

My name is Laura Hamilton. On January 15th, 2018, I lost my Amazon parrot, Kizzy, near the library on Greenley Road in Sonora. While it is possible she has been living in the wild all this time, the most likely scenario is that she flew to someone who either kept her or sold her.

I adopted Kizzy to keep my mind busy. I had just lost my first companion parrot, Gabby, from renal failure. We had been together for almost thirty-one years. Losing Gabby was almost more than I could bear, but when Kizzy arrived, she distracted me from my pain and made me laugh with her antics.

Kizzy was only three weeks old when I took over her care. My mother and I had to work around the clock to raise her. I devoted every waking moment to her from May 21, 2017 until she disappeared on January 15th of this year. No one could love her as much as I do.

There is a $1,500 reward for information leading to Kizzy's safe return, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! She is a medium-sized, mostly green parrot with a sapphire blue patch on her forehead. There are splashes of yellow behind the blue patch, on her cheeks and on the bend of her wings.
If you have information regarding Kizzy, please call 209-601-9557. Again, the number is 209-601-9557.

In my next post, I am going to ask you to contact the radio station and plead on my behalf. Yes, I'm that desperate.

Oh well done - that's a magnificent effort! You are not too far down after all. You found the energy and confidence to make that plea and it's first class. Much respect!

What you sent to the radio station sounds great. Hopefully if someone out there has Kizzy simply never realized she was missing or even if they're just interested in the money, either way I hope this is what will bring her home!

Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of you and Kizzy.
Forgive me, but... once again, I can't help but say this: if we don't get Kizzy back, then one day, I hope you'll be ready to give your beautiful love to another bird. There's one out there that needs you. So you take care of yourself.

That is a phenomenal letter. Hopefully they will play it as I bet it will touch the hearts of all who hear it. Stay strong and keep on fighting. Never allow yourself to give up.

An ideal message, Laura. Brief, heartfelt, to the point. An impassioned plea for help, and if Kizzy is in custody, ample reward for return.

Here's KVML's contact page. Whom should I contact regarding my letter? If I ask others to plead on my behalf, whom should we contact? I want my ducks in a row before asking.

Contact ? KVML AM 1450 / 102.7 FM

The recipient drop-down menu offers several choices. I'd suggest at least the PSA (Public Service Announcement) and the General Manager. The G.M. likely has wide latitude to make it a news story for best coverage. Seems their format allows a single entity per send, would have to cut-n-paste the message.

I can not imagine your pain! I just found this on a FB page and wanted to share! Miracles DO happen!

"Morning everyone! I have a lil story to tell! Some of you may know I had 4 of my pet birds chew their way out of a flyscreen on the 08/12/2015. I got one back the following day, one back 6 weeks later and one back 2 days ago! If you lose a bird, god forbid, don’t ever give up hope of finding them. I never stopped looking for them. Someone was trying to sell her on gumtree!Lou Lou was my best friend, she saved my life when I was havin a really hard time. A piece of me died when she left and now that piece is back! This is us this morning I still can’t believe she’s home..."
I have to add, the little GCC, Lou Lou, still remembered her after all these years and has already proven she is still her best friend!

Xxxx thanks for sharing that.

My non-praying butt is still bargaining with the universe or whatever entity or entities may or may not hold sway over it that the two of you are reunited. #TeamKizzyForever

I'm going to ask everyone who is friends with me or my mother on Facebook to contact them. I'm going to ask if they got my letter.

I really don't have any hope left. This town is too small and too poor. Someone would have spoken up by now. I can't even think about what may have happened to her. I'm broken.

It is entirely possible Kizzy is living among the forest, and at some point may venture back into town and be seen. Never give up hope!

I know I’m a bit late to this forum post (actually just saw it today). I sent your flyer to my coworker who does a lot of social media and knows a lot of bird lovers. I know it’s not much, but it’s all I can do for you as I live too many states away to be able to physically help you find your bird. Hope things work out for the best. Hang in there. We’re all rooting for you!

Please help by contacting KVML / KKBN and asking them to play my plea for Kizzy's return over the radio. Here's KVML's contact page: Contact ? KVML AM 1450 / 102.7 FM ; here's KKBN's contact page: Contact ? KKBN 93.5 FM .

I recommend you write the PSA director and perhaps even call in, asking them to help me find Kizzy. I never ask for much from friends, but I'm asking now. Please. This is my last chance.

Here's the message I want read on air. They can edit it however they like. I'm giving it to you so you know the facts:

I tried, Laura! Attempted to submit both stations with three different browsers, but not accepted. In all cases the rotating arrows continued to twirl after pressing the "send" button. Will try again tomorrow morning.
