Just have something to add here. Only my opinion but if your bird is on a seed diet I don't see where this will actually hurt him only speaking from experience. I know that seeds are fatty but my jenday is 20 years old and has always been on a seed diet. I inherited him about a year and a half ago when my mom passed away. Everyone kept telling me to put him on a pellet diet but I left him on seed and he's still doing fine. We also bought a sun conure who was on a seed diet and he just turned 2 years old (we've had him for about 6 months) he is very healthy and active. In my mind I would think that if he's happy and healthy then stay with the seed. I wouldn't want to eat the same sawdust everyday so I'm not going to make them eat it.
Again, this is only my opinion and I come to this forum all the time for advice on everything I don't know and really appreciate those that take the time to help me.
