! Need help! 5 weeks old Sun Conure refuse to eat

Hello, I'm not any experienced with hand feeding as I never use to raise parrot before. I have a 5 weeks old and half baby sun conure that isn't want to taking formula OR eating any solid foods.

Let me explain about my problem clear.

I bought him from a pet store last week and the breeder told me he was around 4 week old and he told me to feed about 12cc of fomula 3 times/day.

The first 4 to 5 days he seem to eat as normal and very hungry but since last 4 days he doesn't seem to eat enough. He look so hungry, But when I start to feed him about 2-3cc he seem don't want the food anymore till I force him to eat as I worry he won't get enough nutrition.

It's really make me worry about him as the first time I raise the baby parrot.

As his condition, he is still active and play a lot with his toys. He poo poo a lot as normal.

I just worry he got slow crop problem or inflect any bacteria if he poop as normal?

Any help much appreciate.

Call Your vet immediately !! Better yet look for a exotic animal vet !!
He may be compacted.How warm are You making the formula ?

I would go to the vet as soon as you can. If he's still active and having bowel movements as normal that's a good sign.

from what i know, all the parrot if sick, they will act as normal.. SO Vets first really need to go..

Please call a CERTIFIED AVIAN VET.
How are you checking the temp of the formula? What temp are you using?
How are you sanitizing the feeding tools?
Does his crop empty completely or does he have anything in it, like any sticky kind of gunk on the inside?
What color is his skin, can you take a picture?
What formula are you feeding him, and how thick is it?
What area do you live in, how warm is it in your house?

I live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The big problem is, I cannot find any avian vet here in my location. I bring him to an animal clinic in Phnom Penh called Agrovet Agrovet Cambodia - Home and I believe there is only this clinic in my country that is reliable and operated by French doctors. But the doctor said he is doing fine, and give me some vitamin for parrot only.

Normally I check the formula by my hand, I just to make sure it warm and it not burn his throat.
I sanitizing the feeding tool by cleaning and soak it in hot water a few minute. and I don't think is there any sticky thing in his crop because I only feed formula to him.

My house warm is around 28 degrees Celsius at night and 32-34 in the day time.

I check him crop this morning and the it completely blank. He seem really hungry but after I feed him a few CC he start to refuse the food again.

Is there any solution I can figure out and do it by myself?

First, you need to get a thermometer. Formula needs to be between 102 and 110 degrees F (sorry I don't remember how to convert it to celcius). Any cooler can cause sour crop and poison the bird. Any hotter can burn his crop and cause an infection. Baby birds will often refuse formula if it is not the right temperature. This seems to be the first thing you can do; get a thermometer and use it every time.

What you are checking for by feeling the crop is potential yeast developing there. Can you send pictures, especially of his crop, and if you can get pictures of the skin under his feathers on his crop, that would be best. What kinds of solid food are you offering to him?

Hello Everyone and SilverSage,

Here's the pictures of- Rio.

And the good news is, yesterday after I bough the thermometer to test the formula before feeding him following suggestion from SilverSage since last evening and in this morning. He is not refuse the formula and even want more and more but I limited him only 15cc.

I have attached the photo of his crop, It's looking normal with bright pink skin.

I still have doubt about SiliverSage have asked me that "What solid food do I offer to him?"

I didn't offer any solid food to him yet, as the pet store guy told me to feed formula to him till he was 8 weeks old,
right now he is 6 weeks old.

I would like to know is it correct way? or should I start to offers him some pallet and water from now?

It's really make me complicated right now as it's my first experience with parrot.

I believe now is the time to start offering fresh fruits and veg and also whatever pellet diet you will wean on to.
Organic baby food is helpful too. My gcc wouldn't eat his fruits and veg until I mixed it.

He is old enough now to start offering him solid food. DO NOT CUT DOWN ON HIS FORMULA, not even when he is 8 weeks! Feed him solid food but feed him formula at least three times a day until he refuses all formula (at the right temp) for all three feelings for 7 days in a row. Otherwise you can damage his mind and body. Good job getting the temp right be sure to let us know if you have other questions. Also, please remember that it is important to let him fly for at least 4 months before you clip his wings, or you can damage the way he thinks and copes with fear which can lead to biting, screaming, plucking, etc.
