need help with hurt quaker. too much antibiotic?

Hello. My quaker parrot Lulu of 4 years apparently got hurt between her ear and eye. It got infected and I took her to vet and he gave me 0.3 baytryl 10% twice a day to give because he said it was bad. I thought it was a little too much and called another vet and asked for a 2nd opinion and she said to give 0.1 once a day. The other amount she said was too much. I gave it orally to Lulu for about a week. Then I thought it was better and stop but now it's back to worst because she scratches with foot all the time. Called 2nd dr. and she said to start again with med. I dont know if I should give .1 twice a day or what give more( maybe .1 twicd /day). Getting desperate. What should I do? Help!!!

I would take the advice of a vet who has seen the bird as they are the ones that are qualified.
And antibiotics can't be stopped until the set time is
Over (usually ten days) as unfortunately to the naked eye it may appear they are healthy when in fact there is still an infection inside. When you stop before the infection is truly gone all you do is create a resistant infection... So you do way more harm than good.

Always follow the advice of the vet who actually looks at the bird. The first vet may have seen that the infection was too established for the usual dosage, and prescribed more because of it. If you trust the second vet more, take your bird to see the second vet before following the advice of the second vet. Never stop giving medication until the vet says. The outer infection may have cleared but it may have still been in her system. By stoping before the infection was cleared, it is possible that you have made the infection able to resist the drugs. Please always follow vet instructions exactly.

Both vets have seen my bird Lulu. That's what's confusing. One said .3 twice/day the other .1once a day. Yesterday I called the 2nd vet and she said to start antibiotic again. I asked if I could increase the dose and she said no. What should I do? Even though she eats well and looks normal. The problem is she keeps scratching with her and wont heal.

You said that the vet you took her to prescribed 0.3 baytryl twice a day, so that's what I would give her.

The second vet didn't see the infected eye, did she?

She may need a collar/cone until the infection is properly healed.

What we mean is the vet that has SEEN the injury is the only one qualified. You keep saying you "called" the second vet. But that isn't sufficient really. So you should listen to the one vet who has laid eyes on the infection.

And honestly, because you stopped the antibiotics too soon I would go back to the vet. They may need to prescribe a new/different antibiotic
