Koko a 15 year old male Blue Fronted Amazon
Hello
I have just taken in Koko a 15 year Blue Fronted Amazon about 5 months ago.
We are bonding and learning each others moods ... he has so many.
I am allowed to scratch him through the bars and happy to say I am getting bit much less, I am pretty sure he is starting to like me!
I had planned on making him a flight cage as I have a log home and it is not safe for him or my wood.
Any ideas as to what material I should bind the edges of the Stainless Steal mesh with to make it safe? I also am using Stainless Steel wire to wrap it together.
Happy to have found this forum and all the information so I can be a well informed friend for Koko.
Love all your pictures, here are a few from us.
We have found he likes Bird Street Bistro, has had a diet of seeds so a big change for him!

Welcome. Love the pictures.

Welcome !! I wish I could help with the aviary. I did a lot of things wrong when I made my cages 25 years ago, and I don't want to pass on bad information! Depending on where you are, you might be able to order aviary panels, but I have no idea what prices you'd be paying.

As for Bird Street Bistro... all my birds except my CAG love it. My CAG refuses to eat it, even if I mix it with his regular veggies. He can be a stubborn aft sometimes, LOL!!

use of wood for aviaries means you'll be rebuilding it periodically and maybe often. A Amazon can go thru wood rather quickly if it has a mind to. Lots of folks come on here with similar plans for aviaries, if you can describe yours we may be able to help you avoid the pitfalls and problems before you start building.
