Hey bird lovers! I'm new to this forum and have 2 Budgies, a green male named Billy, and a white and blue female named Gigi. My issue is with Billy. He has a very long beak that needs to be trimmed (again). I trimmed it a couple months ago and it has grown back and is very long. When I trimmed it previously he bled, and I was freaked. It did stop bleeding and he was fine. But I felt so bad. So I'm afraid to to trim it again. My other budgie Gigi seems to be able to keep her beak short. I have a couple cuttle bones in the cage, a mineral block, and I offer other chewable things, like yucca and other bird safe things. I think he is kind of lazy and just doesn't want to chew on anything except seeds. I will have to break down and catch him (he's not that tame) and either trim his beak or file it down. Any advice? I do not have access to bird vets around here. Plus one I found charges $90 just to look at him. They seem to be healthy otherwise. This my first experience with owning parakeets (other than when I was a kid).
Thank you in advance for any advice.
