Alexandrine parrot, 4-1/2 mo. old
Hi, from Carole & Lee, we're new bees here and owners of 4.5 month old Alexandrine Parrot. We're going to be a barking ear around here for a while as we learn what we can from others here with more experience than we have. We are just returning from an exotic bird exhibition in Chattanooga, TN.
We're also the sad owners of a Sun Conyer named Harley that was 6 yrs old and suddenly fell ill and passed away in three days, only one day past seeing her vet..... Still unconfirmed what caused the loss but were sad and somewhat rejuvenated on rearing another pet bird! HARLEY IS MISSED SO MUCH IN OUR HOUSE BUT WILL REMAIN A SWEET MEMORY! R. I. P.

Welcome to the forums, Carole and Lee. My deepest condolences for your loss of Harley. I am sure his memories will guide you as your new Alexandrine settles in.

Was Harley's passing recent? I only ask because of possible pathogens or contaminants in your home, particularly if the cause is unknown.

Hi and welcome to you all. Look forward to hearing about your baby Alex.

Sorry for the loss of Harley, six is very young. As Scott says it would be useful to sit and have a think of all the possibles that may be responsible. You would not want history to repeat I am sure. So with this in mind this link may prove useful. Was Harley on a healthy diet? They love to eat what we eat and it is easy to give in "oh just a little won't hurt" but unfortunately there are consequences. My friend found this out when she lost her Sun aged 16. She is a fab mum to a RB2 now!
