Oh gosh he FINALLY did it- flight training

What made the flight line snap? That just scares me to death. I bought the Aviator harness and flight line but I am having second thoughts after reading this. What brand did you buy? The thought of loosing one of my birds is just something I can't deal with! OMG! I would have had a heart attack. And how did you get him down?

You can read about it here.

(Please read all)

Was basically a 1 in a million fault if I recall correctly. They tested and restested it. I honestly would not worry. Aviators are pretty much fool proof if used properly. Tab was just incredibly unlucky.

10.000 dollars?!! o.O you must be amazing ;) ahaha. I'll get it sorted ;)

Annnyyyywayyyy we're just awaiting your video :)

Awesome Fargo! Tab, your stills r gorgeous and gave me goosebumps (maybe they were Macaw-bumps)

GRATS its a great feeling isn't it!!!
I got a retractable CAT lead which is only 3m long but the clip on it weighs hardly nothing But I must stress its the cat lead not the small dog.
CAESAR is loving his new freedom as I hope your bid dose :32::32:

Miss Tabitha! Before you go gallivanting off anywhere, you gotta help me get my Beaks to do the Fargo (ie. somersault). I've had no luck at all trying to teach them and they just look at me as if I were a pork chop or something. I can't imagine how it feels to fly your bird outside - it's only a dream for me, 'cause I live in the city and there's nowhere safe enough to try. Barney and Madge just have to fly from the front door to the back door and poop on my head as they fly over it. :(

Hahahahahaha  Have you tried sticking the treat between their leg so they look down at it? Or do they just look at you like you have gone mental?

I think when Fargo trains, the only thing he cares about is the treat :09:

Awww you need to go for a trip to the countryside and start flight training :D haha

Congrats tab! Lovely photos as well. It's so sunny there! It was dark at 5pm here :( gaah, I want sun. (But not australian sun. Lol! I can't handle the heat...)

I need to get a harness and work with kiwi. She needs to be ready for summer and those upper 80 days! I hate those days...I melt :o give me -20 and I'm fine, but anything past 85 and I'm coiling in terror and heat. Haha.

Thanks! :D

Oh really? Our summers it is light at 4am, and dark at a bit after 7pm!

In the winter its pretty dark until about 7am, then 4pm its dark :09:

Oh i melt too!!! Fargo and I spend the summer in air conditioning, because he almost dies in the heat as well

Definitely start harness training!!! :)

Cat (Mayden) posted the link, thank you ;) haha

But if you didn't read all that then it was a veryyyyyyyyy rare thing to happen..

I am kinda incredibly unlucky... My friends all think i am unluckiest person in the world when it comes to my animals.. Bad things always happens to them :31:

But! The aviator harness is fine, but what happened, is on the aviator flight line, the bit you attach to the harness snapped, because the welded clampy bit, on the inside it was sharp, and it tore at the string...

Sent it to the company, they did the testing.. and figured out that they had actually changed manufacturers, like 2 months prior, and it had left the sharp bit...

They said this has not happened in the 10 000 they have sold.. and i dont think it has happened since..

So they would of fixed the problem, they were incredibly worried about it! :)

Thank god that bit of the harness was still attached to him as he flew off, because otherwise i honestly have no idea what i would of done...

But i climbed up the tree, and managed to get the leash, and pull him down...

Was the longest 45 minutes of my life haha

Trust me, everyone says that if anything happens to Fargo they will probably send me to a mental hospital because they wont be able to deal with me :54: Even my avian vet said that he is going to fly to the other side of Australia :09:

Ohhhh i have a friend who used i think it was about a 10m retractable leash, he said it worked perfectly fine :)

Thats great!! Yes i think they definitely enjoy it, once they are used to the environment! Was Caeser scared at first?

For the first week outside Fargo just clung to me and wouldn't let go hahaha
