Parrots
Cockatiels, Budgies, and a Sun Conure
Sorry if any of these have been shared before.

1964 cigarette ad...ugh.

1940s. Apparently she made a perfect Highball drink with Calvert whiskey, and the Budgies think it's romantic. But he didn't finish the drink.

1971. I never hear about Bee Bee Parrots...are they not popular anymore? Or was it an old name for another species?

1950s. Why not surprise someone with a new pet? Such as a burro?

I remember Grants stores from when I was a child.
Everyone smoked in the 50s and 60s, even the budgies apparently, and they were heavy drinkers, too!
Dr's smoked in the halls of hospitals up until the mid to late 70s and patients could smoke in their hospital rooms even later, like the 80s.

I remember the hospital smokers! Hospital staff were allowed 2x 15 min smoke breaks. Some smokers abused this. As much as 20/min in 90 min and more if we weren't busy. I got written up because I started taking break for break and not smoking. I implied that I'd get an attorney. Smoke breaks then became better regulated. One surgeon had an aid who carried ashtray to catch his cigar ash. I was one of the few who celebrated when smoking was banned in hospital. I remember the heart palpations I got with patients and/or visitors smoking with oxygen in use. I still get freaked out watching smokers out/about with portable oxygen in use. I do miss the 'cute, catchy' smoking, drink ads, tunes etc.

It was like this at a few of my past jobs. A smoker could go to a supervisor/manager and say "I NEED a cigarette!!!". They would spend 20 minutes having that "quick cigarette". Multiple times per day.

I never saw those ads before. Cute back in the day, but knowing what we know now, turns your stomach thinking of those poor birds.

I can tell you, as a working musician, I don't miss the days of club gigs with the smoke so thick you couldn't see the back of the room. Every night, come home, strip down and throw clothes in the washer, shower off, wipe down all the horns and leave them out to air out so you could even get next to them, let alone put them in your mouth to play. 🤢🤮

Taking a walk down childhood memory lane! I remember WT Grant. It was similar to JJ Newberry and Woolworths. RIP, five and dime stores!

I remember when most stores had a pet department. I was always looking at the budgies just for fun. My mother had a budgie since before I was born and a neighbor gave me her budgie when I was around 7 or 8, so I was not in the market for another.

Here's a fun one from Australia, back in the days before caller ID ;)
