Parrot owners in Saudi

Hiya,
I am new to the forum. Already loving it and finding it very useful.
We have a 9 month old Congo African Grey. Our first bird ever.
He's not taking yet. He is such a clever bird and we absolutely love him.
We haven't found an avian vet in our area not sure if there are any. We take him to a general vet and although he (the vet) seems good so far I would really be more comfortable if it was an avian vet.

These are both very good advice except I don't personally know anyone who owns falcons but I should keep looking.

The state of the zoo here is horrendous. I took my children there once or twice and the condition the animals are in made us cry. So that's out of the question.

There nothing wrong with being in the middle east. You Just need some time to look around. I 'm sure you'll find people who share your love of birds and excellent avian vets.
It took me some time to find a good avian vet here,but it doesn't mean they are unavailable.

No, I'm in Dubai.
I'm just sensitive to generalizations and negativity when it comes to my country or the middle east.
It is a lovely bird by the way. Looks just like my Abudi.

No, I'm in Dubai.
I'm just sensitive to generalizations and negativity when it comes to my country or the middle east.
It is a lovely bird by the way. Looks just like my Abudi.

It is unfortunate that the only thing that ever seems to get published are the negative images of the regional conflicts, and senseless killings...

The only things I know about Dubai are the architecture, which is world famous, and the annual skydiving tournament, which is one of the biggest in the world.

I would suggest contacting Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation

Every vet in the region worth anything trained there at one time or another. So, I'm guessing that if anyone could suggest a local vet, it would be these guys.

The bird in the pic is simply adorable. A healthy bird starts with good nutrition; fresh fruit/ vegetables, mixed nuts ( I don't give peanuts), quality pellets and fresh water at least daily. Also exercise; most often in the form of out of cage play time in a safe enviroment . If you need any help/advise you're on the right path, there are so many seasoned parrot owners here. Remember there are no questions to big or small, just ask. Don't no if you're aware of Don't Ever Feed; Avocado, Alcohol, Caffeine, Salt, Sugar (sure I've missed some but these are the biggies).

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. And I do agree only the negatives get mentioned in the news so people who haven't been to this side of the world don't know the many wonderful things about it.
We were probably wrong to generalize too. Dubai is pretty good with animal rights. Lots of amazing opportunities to interact with animals.

Anyways back to my Leo. He's a happy, healthy bird. We feed him a variety of fruits vegetables and nuts. Give him loads of (mostly homemade) toys to play with ( read destroy lol) we love to spoil him.

I built this playgym with my daughter. And we are quite pleased with it. Most importantly he loves it so hard work payed off.

It is the bright side to all of this hatred and darkness around us.
