A big hi to all!

I think my peach face parakeet has some equilibrium issue. It seems to have lost some vision and when it stands still, it’s head inadvertently rolls back.

I’ve brought it to a vet but it may have been difficult to diagnose as the vet claims it is ok.

Does anyone have a clue or has seen similar issues?

I have below 2 links to show samples;

Much thanks for your kind response in advance!

Big wing hugs welcoming to you and your little one.

Does your bird walk around and climb or step up on a perch? Do show a video, won't you?

Birds are fragile so it is better to be safe than sorry. When I suspect that my bird may be unwell, this is what I do.... close monitoring on these issues just to be safe.....

1) food intake and poop...is it changing in color or amount?
2) behavior...is it playing as usual?
3) when in doubt, hand feed baby birds food to reduce bird's stress or give easy to digest food such as banana 🍌

And this page below is a good check list to go through...

If it is all checked out then everything is normal. then it is all right. (Many things that I worry about never happened.)

Hope this helps

Hi Emeral,

Thank you for the warm welcome and especially the references for a checklist.

I did provide links to two you tube videos i uploaded, as i’m unable to directly attach videos here. However the links may not be visible as they seem to directly embed the videos in the chat box.

Below are the two links again;

Are they no visible/clickable?

Warm regards.

Uh…you sure that’s a budgie? Looks like a lovebird to me. Beautiful though!
Does she show other symptoms? Is she eating? Flying?
Go see another vet and get their feedback.

A. Budgie's aren't the only type of parakeet

B. Yeah, that's a lovebird, man. A budgie cannot produce the colors red or orange

Please, give it a bigger cage and take that singular metal perch away. PLEASE.

Don't feed it a seed diet....

Birds are not emotionless decorations!

Bertie, the feisty, 17-yr-old, road-trippin’, green cheek conure
Is it possible your little bird fell or crashed into something? It might have a concussion- vision issues, coordination, drowsiness can all be signs of a neurological issue. I second finding another vet and getting another opinion. and show them the videos if you can. Good luck!

Here is an example of how a bird's setup should look like (my setup), and examples of budgies.

Sleeping cages (one for the boys, one for Picasso):

Yup! If the bird is in their cage a bit longer (Stormy's birds free range outside the cage all day) then I would recommend a flight cage like this
Screenshot 2022-01-15 6.12.58 PM.png

In fact I have my birds out for 10-12 hours a day but have this size cage for all of them, and obviously an even bigger one for my YNA

Before I write more, PLEASE remember if anything sounds snippy or rude it is not the intention. We're trying to help.

Remove that metal perch and replace it with 8-10 natural wood perches (not dowels, one or two rope is good to add too as long as the bird doesn't chew rope perches).
Diet should consist of seed as a training treat, with organic pellets like Harrison's, Top's, or Roudybush as a base and daily chop.

The bird should get at least 3 hours of time out of the cage each day. You should NEVER bring your bird outdoors on your finger, even if they are clipped.

Give them at least 3 toys, and rotate the toys weekly. NEVER give them a rusty cage.

Make sure the cage is not in an area where fumes are used.

Remove all candles, nonstick pans, incense, etc. from the household.

Make sure you go to an avian vet, not a cat and dog vet.

And this is the BARE MINIMUM, btw, so if you want to go above and beyond (which you really, really should) then do even more for the bird than Stormy said.

Here's another example of a pretty good setup. This is mine.

Yeah, your setup is great. Except the cages, which are amazing for your situation, but most people don't want their bird out of the cage ALL THE TIME.
Haha, yeah, but if you can accommodate to having your birds out all day, that's great!

But please don't use my cages as an example.
