Penny is sick, I've been holding back making a thread

What a gorgeous little bird Cloudy is! Looking very confident and proud :)

I just read this post and least some of it.
Laura I am so sorry for all you have been going through.
Thoughts and prayers to you.

Ta-dah still 77
Penny back at 108 ( ate a bunch if baby bird formula yesterday )
Pikachu 113, eye swelling gone ( ar least right now)
Orbit 92

Cleaning everything with dilute bleach as directed, with birds away and windows open. Directed to not vacuum during this. Its ok as hardwood and tile , spare room with carpet closed off not used. Changed filter in home. Will change out in 2 week intervals till this over. Looking at probably 2 months to kick this out of the home. Will always be careful that any stress in a burd could lead to relapse .

Remember to Quarantine new birds, and have a vet visit. Its not a joke, and you know there are worse things out there....

Little Cloudy Skies, showing off fashion feather. I'd say has the confidence to pull it off!

Encouraging numbers Laura! And i love Cloudy's sweet face and his stylish fashion statement, you are a dapper little dude :)

Thank you everybody .
Orbit and Cloudy are sneezing. Penny i just caught regurgitation to Orbit, she already does this with Pikachu and Cloudy!! Besides sharing germs.. what's up? Are they all courting her? Are they just bonding as a flock?
Ta-dah and Cloudy also regurgitate to each other...They seem to do year around..

Anyway we are figuring out how to treat them all, and if I should keep them caged for tge 40 days, to try and control germs... im being assured we will get through this but to be prepared its gonna be a long haul, and tgey shouldn't be as sick as the first time..but still nothing to mess with, as untreated can be fatal....

I bought a new container of baby burd formula. And will be feeding more cooked sweet potatoes, and butternut squash, and even cooking carrots as improves beta carotene uptake. Im looking into getting a sprouting system, abd how to be safe with thst and bacteria abd mold ect..

I feel pretty good about everyone right now house is Rowdy abd active, and loud. Veggies were chewed on, a bunch were offered but today the favorite was cauliflower. Its always interesting to me see what's the favorite of the day, as its always changing.

Cloudy still sporting the feather. He lets me stroke his breast and side of face but not his head

Orbit always rushes the veggies first.

Ta-dah went to 78.
Penny has sinus draining from right nostril again :( :( :( .....
I have the doxycycline whole flock will get 41-45 days. Azithromyacin can't be given again fir so long a treatment. And doxycycline is the drug of choice. Tho today Penny and Pikachu will be given the last of the Azithromyacin.
Budgies will be caged and im moving them into spare bedroom. So I can treat then let them out during the day.

The other will be caged on the high risk for re-infection days which I think is week 2 and week four.

Daily cleaning of everything with dilute bleach as directed by my vet.

Several birds are sneezing.

Today's daily pic is Orbit trying to get to beads hung outside of cage.

Etsy has crafter who make parrot masks, yippie I just got my blue quaker face mask. Pikachu was the only bold one.

Ok off to treat everyone.
The budgies will have to be caged, I hate that. I pulled the carpet in the spare room , and moved them in.
Ok Cloudy who is the only one of the budgies I've heard sneezing is very low on weight at 38g ( normally 44g) a very scary 13.6% weight-loss!!!!!!
Blue Boy normal at 39g
Clear normal at 46g

At least one budgie has abnormal poop. It us soft not formed and has green tinged urine. Probably Cloudy's
laurasea-albums-keets-picture23287-abnormal-budgie-poop-not-formed-green-urine-20210224-114418.jpg

Orbit who has been sneezing dropped weight to 91g( should be 94-96g) if i go by last weight before sick of 96g that's a 5% weight-loss not good.

Penny down 3 to 105, a 2.7% weight-loss , she had draining from right nostril yesterday. And occasionally green tinged urine.

Pikachu holding at 113g, still slight periorbital swelling, it sometimes goes away and comes back

Ta-dah took a bath do can't weigh her yet.

Everybody in the flock has normal behavior and activities, and is eating well. No fluffing, no extra naps, normal vocalizations.

Today is more mango, tiny multicolored tomatoes ( biggest hit) , broccoli, green beans, lettuce mix abd some cabbage and carrot.

Orbit 91 same
Ta-dah 77
Penny 109!! I measured her against Pikachu who I thought was my largest. She is actually a little longer in the body, has larger head and beak...so that makes me think she should be over 115.....a big difference from the 100 I thought was her normal...
Pikachu 114.

Penny and Pikachu are getting one feeding a day of babies bird formula, 3-6ml each late afternoon.
The rest are getting the doxycycline mixed into 1ml of baby bird formula for easy of giving. Budgies I mix in about 0.1ml of baby bird formula.

Getting ready to treat the budgies. They are extremely stressed about being caged . But I have to clear them of the infection. And Cloudy has been very sick with out me realizing with a 13% weight-loss. They absolutely hide being sick..

Please weigh your birds regularly, kitchen gram scales are cheap and widely available.

To weigh the budgies i zero out a plastic pasta storage container, and turn on its side
Then put them in to get weight. Its perfect because I can reach in and place them, but its not wide enough for them to easily turn around.
Budgies poops looking good today

Extras, cooked butternut squash, cooked quinoa, red chilies, abd celery. I should add I always serve a leafy green every day. Tonight will give tomatoes, zucchini, leafy greens and a little shredded cabage

Today Ta-dah is 79, and I might have felt an egg but higher up not ready to pass. ..nit completely confident that I did...
Her big morning poop was a little wetter than it should be, but more formed after I gave her a little yogurt yesterday, I have to get new today.
Orbit same 91 poops good, no sneezing since doxycycline started.
Penny 108 . Shhh the feathers are starting to grow back on her neck!!@ please let her have the tolerance to put up with the itchy phase and let them grow in..
Pikachu 114g no periorbital swelling today.
Budgies weight same yesterday, poops all good. Doctors said yes doxycycline could help the poops that fast. It has some anti inflamitory properties.

I would like to get medicated feed for them. Anyone know where you can get that?

Today's extras broccoli, chili peppers, zucchini, and cauliflower and carrots ( zucchini was the favorite today)

Things looking up a bit, Laura. Especially waiting for you to feel much better!!

IDK about medicated feed, guess that's a veterinarian special order?

Doxycycline is back order at most places. And She couldn't find the medicated feed for the budgies. I have a recipe to make some, but I csn tell the budgies won't eat it
And I don't have any extra to play around with.
Its extremely stressful to grab and treat the budgies, mostly for them..but I hate stressing them..she said no way would they drink enough to do medication in the water...

Tried something like that and it was a nightmare as the shelf life was short and refrigeration was monitory, which also limited time one could make it available.

Got good at hand-holding and tons of praise.

Tge big parrots no issues. But the little budgies it's so stressful on them...

Sad to hear of the MG exacerbation Laura. Possibly due to all of the recent stress with the flock illness and apparently a new 'infection' amongst them? You poor thing. I hope that you have someone who can care for you and help out in someway. If I were there I'd be over NURSING you my friend.:)
