My wonderful partner and I were looking at baby toys in various stores the other day, in preparation for my baby african grey I'll be bringing home this summer.
I like to try to think out of the box with toys and activities for my loves.
Well, at the store we both zeroed in on this little baby piano.
The keys are incredibly easy to press down and take the lightest touch to produce a chime. The chime is really soft, and not as loud and harsh as I thought it would be. I figured it wouldn't be too scary for curious birds (and I was right!).
It's also really easy to clean, so we decided to get it!
It was going to be just for the grey (I'm curious as to what it'll do with music, among other things), but we thought we'd let the monsters have at it. I've been playing with it to get them interested, and have set it atop their play cage. They're no longer afraid of it, but no one had touched it yet.
Until today! I was tip-tip-typing away on my laptop when I suddenly heard a soft DING.
I look up to see Phaedrus gently tapping his beak on the keys!
But whenever I'd get up to get a closer shot, or shut the music off to get a clearer sound, he would waddle away.
So here's Phae's very short and impromptu little performance.
I was just so incredibly excited that I had to share! Hopefully they'll all get more comfortable with it and I can share a real performance haha
Have any of you tried toys like this with your parrots? Please do share if you have
