Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
I am quite certain that if Syd was able to use the telephone today he would call the Bird welfare!

After he went off to bed in his sleep cage last night I cleaned his day cage as usual and redesigned it. Yesterday I spent my Feb budget on new perches and toys one of which is a coconut hidey hole with ladder. I re-introduced him this morning to his new layout very carefully and he has skirted around the coconut as if it's some kind of unexploded bomb. Bless him.

He's been out to play after breakfast and I have put him back and once again he is edging.........Ahhh. After 2 hours he has climbed up level with it to take a proper look for the first time, but has now thought better of it and disappeared back down to the floor. If only he would take courage and take a proper look he would find some seeds tucked inside the hidey hole.

Come on Syd - be brave, you know it makes sense!

So many parrots hate change! Give him time and those seeds will be a just reward!

This is so hilarious!

Yeah, no doubt our birds would gladly report us for our many shortcomings!
Little stinkers!

What a cutie, though. You must try harder, my friend!

He has spent all day playing out and around it without any inclination to inspect it. The rogue. Instead he thinks he's put in a hard day at the office!

LOL...poor Syd...you're such a mean daddy! ( in his eyes at least!)

Funny on how they get all upset over change. I put two of those rainbow colored bendable ropey type perches on the OUTSIDE of Amys mansion. He had no problems before, climbing on the side of his house, but as soon as he saw those perches,he'd get nowhere near them lol..I bet it took almost two months before he decided they were safe enough to stand/walk on.

Big 'ol green and gruffy Amazon..yeah RIGHT!..big 'ol WUSS in reality lol.

Hahah, funny :D I hope he'll find those seeds!

Mine love change, and they're small lovebirds xD Jump all over new things in their cage and see if they can tear it apart and demolish!

Ha ha! Now you see I would have said the same about Syd. I change his cage around and change toys etc every few days but somehow the coconut is his Waterloo.

Here we are at the end of day 2 and as far as I know he hasn't gone near it. He doesn't seem actively scared he just gives it a wide berth. Tonight I have popped a tissue in the opening. He loves tissues and regularly seals them out of the box so I'll be interested to see if that draws him in.:)

Thats a great idea! Salrty has one of those, and I set it up oiginally so he had to climb down it toget to his feeding station on his daytime boing. Took a while but now he always checks in there for a hidden treat.

Yea! Day 3 and he's finally plucked up the courage. He is so delighted he is shouting at the top of his voice and leaping on and off the little ladder bridge and popping his head in and out of the hole looking and sounding absolutely joyous.

He has just found the seeds and I guess he imagines that Papa Noel in feathers must have visited and that it's the Avian version of Christmas. He's so funny! He's thrilled with himself!
