Hi Everyone,

I have read mixed things about allowing your quaker to build a nest since it can make them very territorial. My little guy Mango keeps trying to build things with his paper toys and his feathers that fall out. Do you recommend giving him some Popsicle sticks to build something? Thanks!

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I am not a Quaker owner, but with 99% of other birds, the last thing you want to do is encourage this behavior...not sure if they are unique in this respect..

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Context and location is critical. Where does Mango compile the paper and feathers? If in a concealed area, might be an issue triggering hormones. If in the open, ie on top of toys or the cage grate, a lesser concern.

Several of my flock tend collect chewed wood in areas such as food bowls or locations that are flat and unobstructed. Seems harmless and has not sparked territoriality. FWIW, mine are cockatoos, quakers may have different habits and concerns.
