Just wanted to post Alfie's progress, Alfie's owner passed away after 8 years and after 6 weeks of patience and many bites later,

This morning I took Alfie out of the lounge onto the stairs which he loved and when I took him back to his cage he will take monkey nuts from
My fingers but then throws them so don't ask me why but I broke it open with my teeth to which he bobbed forward and wanted the nut which he took and ate straight away!

Amazing how he used to hate contact, hands and leaving his cage, he's turning into a really good companion!

I am so happy to hear you are making progress with Alfie!
It sounds like he is starting to really settle in:)

Glad to hear it! As someone who was in a similar situation with my bird, I love hearing when someone else has the same experiences with bonding.

It's so nice Doug, he lets me do everything now, been able to get under his wings and scratch everywhere, he's more relaxed when he is on my bed walking around, and he's started being really gentle biting my fingers and hands and he's started giving me cheeky kisses when I don't expect them, I've found being persistent and little nudges when he stands up to bite he's learnt I'm not hurting him and if he does have a little bite soon as I saw ouch he changes his nip! So pleased he's settled in because he would have ended up in a sanctuary and now he's got plenty to learn and do

Zack will sometimes respond to my saying ouch as well....not always tho! I also tell him 'gentle' when he starts deliberatly starts beaking hard (as opposed to doing to say, catch his balance) his next beaking is usually soft. If it isn't, I make him stop for a minute or two to learn the lesson or calm down if he needs it.

Glad you are making such progress!

Nice to hear that! Definitely not easy for a rehomed Zon. Needs lotsa patience and energy.

I read somewhere that Amazons like to play the 'drop game'. They drop an item and get a kick if you pick it up and drop it again. I know my Amazons take great pleasure at dropping things that make a loud noise just to make me jump.

Interesting Tess,

Never thought he might be making me pick it back up because I always do and eat nut I give him eventually he eats the smallest bit and he drops
The rest lol
