We talk about parrots need a good night's rest. Here's my question, by feeding them a solid meal in the evening. Like chop or sprouts. By giving a full belly, and a full crop. Do you believe that might help them relax for the evening. And get a quality night's sleep.
I just was thinking about this while I was feeding everyone.

I've read in a lot of places that birds in the wild like a good meal before lights out. It's ok in captivatity. Providing they're not over weight or getting high calorie items that will make them hyper. My CAG eats her largest amount of pellets before lights out. Some nights a little after. In the beginning I thought it was abnormal. Talked to my avian vet. He agreed with what I had read. Some birds enjoy it. Some don't.

I was just thinking, some times I switch up big in the morning, smal in the evening.
Thanks just something I was thinking of.

Big in morning is good. That's when they're the hungry.

To a degree. When I feed 2nd meal large. They don't eat a lot in the morning, they go off and come back later.
What I due in the mornings is, I give them fresh water right away. Then I give everyone a morning treat. I have my cup of coffee ready and I clean cages.(I like them to have clean cages before breakfast) also I doing my morning training be fore they eat. The lights turn on at 7am I am up and ready to start my day with them.

Let me explain myself a little more. First off I measure pellets, so they just get enough. there is always a little left. What I feed a good size meal is the chop,or sprouts . I do change up the chop. Sometimes I add cooked barley, oat,and brown jasmine rice. Just to mix it up a little.
