right cage for my sun?

That cage doesn't look nearly big enough. It's tall, but it is kind of like useless space because if you put perches or toys above each other, they get pooped on. Plus most birds prefer longer cages to taller cages.

I personally think the cage looks great for a Sun! Especially if you are going to give him quite a bit of time out of his cage as well. (which I think we all do) I don't think my Sun's cage is a whole lot larger than that, but she is out all day.

I know that longer cages are better, but it's a space problem... I would have to take the kitchen table out of the kitchen (where we have her now) only to put a longer cage in :21_irked: so that wont work, sadly... this one is 23x23x61 in inches... and the perches arent a problem, as my Sunny hardly ever sits on one, she mostly just hangs on the cage bars the whoooole day she only climbs on a perch when she goes to have a drink :smile031:

and yeah, she gets up to quite a lot hours out-of-the-cage time every day (to the point where I'm almost late for work), if not with me, then with my mum, she's a spoiled little thing :)

I think a 23x23 is fine for a Sun Conure, not saying they can't have or use a bigger cage but I know people that put them in 18x18 and I hate that.To me 18x18 is to small. I didn't see what the bar spacing is on that cage, that would be the thing I would worry about. Make sure the bar spacing is safe for a Sun and I would go for it.

I was wondering about wether to get this cage or not, but didn't know that my mum had allready ordered it  so yeah, now we have the cage as in the link of the first post.... it came today, so my grandad helped me set it up (a few toys are still missing there), we're still letting her stay in her old cage and slowly letting her get used to the new one... and now it looks like this, with sunsun in it (and it's bigger then it looks in the pic):

the wall with the flowers was a door a few years back and now it's the only space the cage would fit in...
and someone asked about the bar space: its 2.5cm (1 inch)

beautiful cage and bird. Alison and sweetie pie:D

I know you said she doesn't use perches too much but it is good for her feet to have different textures. I would add some natural wood corner perches of different thickness for her. As your Sun matures and gets used to her cage, she should use her perches more.
Just be careful having her in the kitchen(not the best room to be in)....

the natural (soon to be) perches are still in the making :) I plan to make different types, sizes ... the cage is still a bit dull, bit not for long, it will be ready in the fwe days till we move her in permanently...

I know the kitchen isn't the best place, but the only place with enough space... and we had all our budgies (6 - not all at the same time, mostly 2 and 2 together) in the exact same spot and nothing bad ever happened, cause we allways put the birds in back the cage when cooking or doing something when they arent supposed to be with us, it went well all these (24) years ;)
