Parrots
Kiwi -Pacific Parrotlet, Rio - Senegal. Both hatched 2/2013
She is now a cockatiel! She looks like a Senegal, but is mimicking the cockatiel in the aviary next door. I told her she wasn't a cockatiel, but a Senegal, she wants to argue with me. ;)

ha hah ha cute mine do the same thing with our neighbours tiel but that's alright because they are tiels lol! :)

Across the way, they have several species of parrots, tiles being one of them. And that's the 'one' she picks up. :09:

That is funny! You never know what are fids will pick up next! LOL!

DD's lovebird, Gemma, is convinced she is a Bald Eagle...or a starling...or a .... LOL...She imitates several of the wild birds in our area (including one I have yet to identify).

Today I distinctly heard Rio say "pretty bird" I said it to her and she said it back. Omg I was in shock! She hasn't said it since... lol

that's funny, Safari does my cockatiels, lovebirds, and conures, a real mix!...he seems to be very talented in that area, he knows approx. 40 sounds at the moment, a never ending expanding noise maker :)

Well, Rio still does the calls of a cockatiel. But now we can add parrotlet, very mad parrotlet to her repertoire. She and Kiwi do not get along, and right now because its been so hot (102 today) I have both birds in my small living room. Remember I live in an RV. When Kiwi gets upset, and she does often, she will sound off, and stomp around as she vocalizes her displeasure. It's really funny.

Today Rio has learned to mimic Kiwi's temper tantrum.... Great!!!

Mine is so silent. I forget he is here once in awhile.

Really? Both my birds are 7 months old now. Kiwi isn't necessarily loud (males are louder) but she has this chatter about her. Especially when she is mad, and boy does she let you know it. I just think its so funny that Rio now mimics Kiwi's tantrums. Cracks me up. :D:D:D

He has this sweet tiny call I hear once in awhile. It seems to be his call for me. Other then that not a sound!

Aww how old is he? Here is a picture of Kiwi I just took. It's like she is saying "Let me out!" Hahaha

He was a rescue, I have no idea of his age or life before me. To guess I would put him about 5. He has younger looking feet, but no "baby" type behavior. He is so sweet. I was told he was a "hell bird" and no one could handle or touch him. I had him up side down in 5 min. and he will wear anything I ask him to.

That's cool, parrotlets have a horrible reputation. How does he get along with your other birds? Kiwi is such a lil instigator. She has tried to take on my Senegal at least 5 times.

Oh sorry! This is not the 'let its my Senegal that does not talk.

She makes little noise also. She tries but she can not even compete with the budgie we are fostering!

WDlodge you are lucky to have such a great mimic!

Thx... She is still so young, I'm looking forward to the years to come. She surprises me everyday.
