September 2025 POTM Contest!! 💖

Official Entry of Tiki and Big Fluffy
Wow, Corona sure does live up to his nickname, doesn't he?! That's a very sweet pair of little buddies you've got there, @DonnaBudgie, thank you for your entry :)

I looked back at pictures of Tiki when he was growing up. Tiki was four months old in the video with Big Fluffy. He was molting his stripes and his cere was turning blue. Judging by the dark tip on Chaplin's beak and the position of his forehead stripes, I would say that Chaplin was only 4 months old in the picture. His cere is turning blue but isn't completely turned yet. At 6 months they are sexually mature with no stripes in front of their eyes with bright blue ceres.
Buster looks like a mutation that will keep his pinkish cere for life. Is he pied.

Oh, Smartypants, now you've done it. I don't listen to this song often because it always makes me cry. The tender beauty of the song and Roberta's beautiful voice really touches that special birdie-spot in our hearts, doesn't it? For the youngsters in the crowd, I'm providing a link whilst I choose an entry. The year was 1972, which make this recording even older than the Rb... even older than... than...

Yep, this POTM was a nod to the immortal Roberta Flack. And I'm looking forward to seeing an official entry from you too, @GaleriaGila, this theme is right up your alley and no POTM would be complete without you and the Rb!

It seems to put Corona into a budgie nirvana. Show budgie breeders call the big fluffy heads "blow". It's a big compliment to say "that bird has great blow"!

NOT OFFICIAL: just for the post..Teeko at PetSmart..Day 1. Also...hes always been a brave and curious spirit! let me know if you find him in the 2nd photo! (: good luck lol

I am so sad that we can’t participate! Kabuki came into my care on September 9, 1974! I no longer have a photo of that special day 51 years ago. 😢 I have photos through the decades and he looks exactly the same as the day I got him! Macaws definitely age better than humans.

No reason why you can't enter, @Macawdamia Nut. Whether the photo is from 1974, from yesterday or from somewhere in between, you fell in love with Kabuki back then and the sentiment is exactly the same now. 💖

Pinya caught his eyes
Awwwwwwwww @Rody, I know that it was "love at first sight" for you and Pinya, and it was for your whole family too! Thank you for your entry, it's beautiful!! 💖

I think Pinya was more in love with the pineapple in that container that day to be honest 😂

Found you, Teeko!!

Geez you're going to have to make it a little harder for me next time, @TeekoGreenCheek. Maybe in your official entry ;)
That's a pretty nice cage Teeko had at PetSmart. It's big, clean and had a few toys and natural perches. Something tells me he wasn't there very long before he was adopted.

I love this theme! Aaaaaaaand I'm loving all the entries so far. Keep them coming everyone! :)

A little trip down memory lane, Just For Fun... First meetings for all of them ❤️

My beautiful Patches. The one who taught me about being chosen. Upon our first meeting, I thought he was just friendly with everyone. Turned out, not so much. Love at first sight, and before I brought him home, he bit the other people that wanted to meet him 💖🤣 2/3/2018

And then came Tucker, who IS friendly with everyone, but he's still very much a daddy's boy :) 12/22/2018

Then of course, before Tucker came home, the beautiful Baxter decided she wanted to come too. The one who hated all men, and most women... 15 minutes after we met. This is my first picture of her. Talk about being chosen! 🥰 12/29/2018

And finally, my sweet boy Avery, who I intended to pick up to get out of the house he was left alone in after his mom was taken to the nursing home, and deliver him to the refuge. Yeah, that wasn't happening once he was home. I suppose he knew I was saving him, and he was sweet as pie right from the start. I met him with the owner's son, who was afraid to take him out of the cage because he might fly away. Ummm, we're inside, and he's been completely cage bound for the last 15 years. Even if he tried, he wouldn't have gotten more than a couple feet. He didn't try to fly, just stayed right with me. He still tries to bite everyone else in the house if they get too close, but lives for boops and beaky kisses with me. At 50+ before I brought him home, he'll have the best life I can give him for as long as we have together. Hopefully that's a long, long time 🙏🙏🙏 11/10/2022

Awwwwwwwww thank you for sharing those beautiful memories, @saxguy64. I'm so happy you all managed to find each other -there were never any ifs, buts or maybes with your flock!

You got your birds (except for Avery) from Seymours! I recognize it in the pictures. That place will be sorely missed.
Does the elderly lady who had Avery know he's in a good home?

Yup, Seymour's. I truly miss going there for visits and supplies. 😢

Not entirely sure the lady knows where Avery went, but I assume so. Her son was coming to the house twice a day to feed, clean the cage, and turn lights on and off, and I kept in touch with him for a while. He was so happy to see Avery being out of the cage, socializing and loved. He still gets updates from a mutual friend who contacted me about him in the first place. Everything for a reason, my wife always says. :)
