What's with the fake owl?
A former friend of mine gave it to me some years ago, and I have since kept it as a 'protection spirit' :D. I also keep it for the day I get a balcony. My birds don't even notice it, LOL!

Some people put those outdoors to scare critters and birds away but they seldom work. I have neighbors that put them on their lake floats to scare ducks and geese but since when do owls perch over open water during the daytime? They must think waterbirds are stupid!
They figure out pretty fast that it's not real. I've even seen birds perch on a plastic owl's head!

Yep!
Many people have them on their balconies as pigeon decoys up here, but they seldom work. I like mine for decoration. :)

Do they sneak down to the uncovered part and as you are tiptoeing around in the morning trying not to wake them you look over and they are staring at you? Because that's what Ollie does...
Yvons likes to peek around his blanket. Silly boi is NOOOOSEY, lol!! Same with Vortex, LOL!!

Yvons being a brat:

Yvons goofs off mid july 2025.webp

Nameliss likes hanging upside-down. That's the position she assumes when attacking (sorry) playing with her noise making toys. When she ceiling walks she's being mischievous. She wants me to laugh and give attention to her.

About fake owls, my husband just saw a woman in a parking lot, putting a fake owl on top of her car. Apparently she does it wherever she parks, to stop birds from crapping on the car. 🤷‍♀️

I wonder how that's working out for her. The birds around my house would be laughing at her! So would the chipmunks, squirrels and real owls. Not to mention all the human giggles!
A pinwheel or mylar streamers would work better than a fake owl.

You should have seen what my company tried when a pair of Canadian geese took up residence.

They put up these ….. they reminded me of something you’d put in your yard for Halloween, like cardboard cutouts of foxes or coyotes. Totally two dimensional and the geese were never fooled.

If it wasn’t for all the 💩 they leave behind I think most people working there would have been ok with them.

People who have lakefront here find that mylar streamers stretched between three foot poles across the beach with three foot long streamers tied at six foot intervals blow in the wind enough to keep the ducks snd geese off the beach.
